Actually as I type this I'm recording a 3 piece live... with an SM81 on the snare shell. Near the hole... mounted above the kick drum. AMAZING results. I'm smashing this signal through a peavey VMP 2 pre amp. The result sounds similar to aspects of the drums on the And You Will Know Us By The Trail ...
