I started with some different outboard stuff as it is just easier to acquire that way. Now I have 24 channels of Neotek from a S1e board and then 4 channels of tube pres (Ampex and Roberts) and 2 channels of hamptone Jfet. If I go to the outboards it is usually for vocals or more vibey acoustic thin...

In a weird coincidence while waiting to watch the debate I caught an episode of Live From Daryl's House with an artist named Nick Waterhouse. Pretty cool I guess, but when talking about recording his first record he mentioned THIS console, studio, and engineer. So there is at least one.

A few weeks ago I was in Toronto and picked up a balanced insert kit for my neotek. Basically a fader plate with a few wires sticking out, a few pcbs and 1 very large metal switch. Couldn't have looked more like a bomb or detonator. I just did what everyone is saying - went early, was very vocal abo...

Funny you ask, just got focused on this over the weekend. I spent $10 on an old "bartending case". I see these all the time at consignment/thrift stores. Basically small suitcases with leather straps inside for shot glasses and other bartending tools. Am going to order foam for it, but it seems like...

Any chance the edwinas are featured here? http://houstonramblings.typepad.com/ -- the Joe Henry and Lisa Hannigan video? edit: Why yes they are -- after posting I went to the Ear Trumpet Labs web site and found it first in the video queue -- http://www.eartrumpetlabs.com/gallery/videos/ -- congrats!!

Yeah, this was a great video and excellent public service. I have a number of panels that are not real traps and got me thinking about how to use - AND some great tips for singer/songwriter recording. The only thing it made me want to buy is multipattern/fig 8 mics to try this out!

I can understand some of the frustration. I take the iphone approach, but it isn't without some hassle. Upload to the cloud or use a thumb drive to get to my puter with the itunes account that matches my phone. Place into itunes, then place onto phone. Not a big deal and i like how things are organi...

i will say, design aesthetics are eerily similar to Scodiddly's awesome work, including the product naming conventions - female names, including an Audrey...

I really like the Blue Dragonfly on lots of voices. SM7 for sure. I still occasionally like a 58 on vocals more often than you would think.

If you don't like the line 6 stuff, the looper in the Strymon Timeline is awesome, but you need a separate controller for it http://disasterareaamps.com/wordpress/ It is first and foremost a delay pedal, but so many options. And the looper is pretty full functioned. Or for around the same price, may...

Spending too much time over the holidays researching AV options. It looks like the Pioneer 1021 does exactly what you are looking for and the cnet people love it. On sale for around $330-430. This is the model with airplay integrated (though not video). Looks like lesser versions without the airplay...

While I haven't tried the Little Devils I am also looking for some EQ on the mix buss. The Electrodyne 511s seem to get universally praised for the mix buss and are vibey. For cheaper I am looking at the five fish eq which seems to have really cool features, good components and a not so high price. ...
