Re: The Darkness - Permission To Land
I have only heard a couple of mp3's of the darkness, and was not too impressed. There is definitely something funny about metal recreations these days. A newer metal band I like better are The Hammers of Misfortune from San Fransisco. Too bad PINK stole their bass player! Check them out... http://ww...

feedback on garbage
Here is a track I have been struggling with for a while... http://www.humboldtmusic.com/Music/gabage.mp3 It was recorded on my pc using cubase. I recorded the bass track first using a click track, and added the drums later. It was painfully slow to play along to. I like the slow tempo of the song, b...

Re: Photos of YOU
Dude! You're in the Hitch right? Sweet! I grew up with the Argonaut boys in T-Town. That last show at HK was fucking great! Yeah! Argonaut rocks!!! Love playing with those guys. It's always refreshing to get to do shows with bands that rip as much as they do, and a bonus that they are all nice as h...

Re: Photos of YOU
the payphone over your shoulder totally makes that picture rockin dave Didn't notice the phone. I wish you could see the old paintings of dogs drinking in the bar. This pic is taken in my favorite bar "the Alibi" in Arcata, CA. The dog paintings are based on charactures of old bar patrons done back...

My band also tracked at Prairie Sun Studios in Cotati. We tracked drums in what they call "the Waits room" witch is bacically a wood panneled 14x12 utillity room off an old chicken barn. It has high ceiling, and is supposely where he has recorded vocals on several albums. It's attached to studio C a...

Re: Ditty 'bout work
Thanks for the input! Yeah, the drum and bass line were recorded live together with my friend Matt on drums. I basically composed the bass line off the top of my head, so poor Matt was never quite sure which direction I was headed. Not bad for a first take-seat of your pants composition. There are t...

Re: Mellow Groove Tune...Let me know what you think...
I don't mind your vocals at all. Sounds good man. Kind of reminds me of T-Rex a bit, one of my faves. Can't deny your own voice, It's the one your born with. I personally enjoy hearing the diferences in the way people around the world use their voices. No two are the same, and that's what keeps it i...

Re: Ditty 'bout work
Hey Robertt8 I see what you mean about phased cymbals. I have never acually listened to that actual media stream before. It's pretty awful. I think the acual mp3 sounds a bit better. http://www.humboldtmusic.com/Music/hole_in_the_ground.mp3 Where abouts in SF are you? My band The Hitch just played d...

Re: Ditty 'bout work
Thanks for the feedback Robertt8, Yes the stereo aspect of the song is a bit limited. I was allways told in the old days never to hard pan anything due to the fact that you will never know the state of the equipment the song will be played on, therefore the song is kind of plain in that realm. I'll ...

How about "The Great Lost Kinks" of Columbia b sides and unrelaeased stuff. Songs like Rose Mary Rose, or The Living Room Light? There are some gems in there. I really love all the Kinks stuff form the raw power of the early years to the crafty tunes that carried them through the seventies. Not so i...

Re: The Demise of MP3.com ...
My band The Hitch has a page at iuma. It's ok, but we don't get a ton of traffic there. Another music hosting alternative I have heard of is ogg vorbis. might check that out.
