Re: Finding albums on 1/4" reel-to-reel tape?
Yeah, I actually love that album...I used to have it on cd somewhere, but I lost it, and that's why I picked up the tape. I prefer them to the Lovin' Spoonful, when it comes down to it.

Re: Establishing stage presence . . .
Watch other bands. See what works for them, imitate that or try a variation. coniferouspine is right, make sure your instruments are reliable and stay in tune as much as possible. Bring a backup if you can afford it and make sure it's in tune before you start playing. If you play guitar and use ligh...

Yeah, I mean, let's be honest, Clinton does have stuff to answer for.
Not 1/100th of the stuff Bush has to answer for, but stuff.

i know it sounds stupid, but between school, music, art, church, and other interests, i don't really have time to do research on these dudes. Yeah, you're right, that does sound stupid. How about this: between work, music, filmmaking, family, raising a 3-month-old kid, and other interests, I don't ...

Re: so... i'm not gonna vote.
i could care less really. they all suck still. Uh, I dunno. Not to preach, but I think that if you spent some time researching candidates and issues (local and national) beyond the crappy ads you'd find something to care about. I do know some people who refuse to vote as a kind of protest, but the ...

Re: Hitchhikers Is BACK!
Yes! I love it too. It translates well to radio. Actually, it started off as a radio play before it was a book, believe it or not. I only know this because I started my writing career (such as it is) doing radio plays for my college station and did a bunch of research on the subject. Note: I just r...

Re: home-made Ebow, or anything (cheap) similar?
just a quick note, for everyone suggesting "feedback" or "headstock against amp"... re-read the original post. the guy has no amp - he does everything through headphones. Oops. You're right. Sorry about that. Tell your friend to make a miniature bow from a paperclip, some duct tape, and sandpaper. ...

Re: Finding albums on 1/4" reel-to-reel tape?
Speaking of oddball 1960's formats, I bought a couple of old cartridges that I thought were 8 track tapes when I got them but turn out to be 4-track cartridges, which I gather were like the mid-60's forerunner of the 8-track. So instead of 4 pairs of stereo tracks it just has 2 pairs, like an ordina...

Re: Finding albums on 1/4" reel-to-reel tape?
I was in Amoeba records the other day and found a rtr tape called "When You're In Love, The Whole World's Jewish." Or maybe it was "The Whole World's Jewish When You're In Love," I forget. Doesn't matter.

Re: Finding albums on 1/4" reel-to-reel tape?
I see 1/4" rtr copies of albums from the 1960's all the time, but I believe they're almost always 4-track (double-sided, like a cassette tape) rather than 2--at least the ones I've seen are. They are plentiful, but I noticed that (on Ebay at least) Beatles tapes in particular seem to go for way more...

Re: home-made Ebow, or anything (cheap) similar?
I remember reading somewhere that on the Cars' "Tonight She Comes" apparently the part that sounds like an Ebow was actually done by playing up & down on a single string of a feedbacking guitar with the other 5 strings muted with scotch tape. Dunno if that's apocryphal or not, but it might be worth ...

Re: Former professor says Bush a pathological liar...
Oh yeah, I read that. I'm sure that Bush's response would be to admit that it was more or less true, but that he's "grown up" since then--another lie.
