I only have 4 hours of studio time. Were only doing one song though so if all goes well I might be able to try a couple different mic placements/different mics.infopimpster wrote:Will you have time to try different mics and positions and A/B/C them to find out what you like, or will this be "speed tracking"?

Cool thanks a lot guys. rwc I am not sure I understand the kick before a smiley EQ curve? Low mids or what? Thanks. And Aaron, what others do you like to use on toms? Would a 57 be ideal? And yes its the shure beta 52. I would rather use that over the D112. In my class they have us do it the same wa...

Tracking drums for first time tomorrow!
Alright. My first time tracking drums. Heres the mic choices I have. 414's, sm52's, sm57's, d112's, 421's, D6, TLM 103's, 451's. I am planning on using a D6 in the kick, and wasnt shure what else to use on it. In class they have us set up the 112 but I dont really like it too much. I was wondering i...

I think this applies for this forum
I am just trying to do research on various engineers. Was wondering if you guys could shoot me off some names to get looking into. Just trying to educate myself on who is doing what more than I know now.

You could probably get 2 gigs of memory instead of 4 and be good to go and save a couple hundred. If you really needed the extra 2 you could always buy it later. 3 should be pretty comfortably even and then with the extra you could get the better interface of the ones you choose. Or a mic or somethi...

If it sounds good at lower volume but bad at high volume?
I am mixing in Pro Tools and it sounds good up until about 4 o'clock on the volume knob for the mbox. I am using headphones. When it gets up to that level it starts breaking up. Is that from the lower frequencies fighting against each other or what?

What he said was right, however, if your final decision is still to get a producer then I am sure if you flash the cash they will do it. Eugene aye? I am from Brookings. I am down in Hollywood going to school right now though. I have a couple ideas that might help you get the ball rolling. If you wo...

I think you can focus the lyric's of the song by not running the pistol shooting clips, through out the whole song. Then try to make some changes. It can be alittle repetitive. Cool thing you got going just polish it. Peace Shane Thanks a lot! I have heard this a couple times from some people I hav...

I did it out of the box but I like it a lot
Its my first real piece so I am pretty proud of it. I spent a lot of time making the beat. The lyrics, not so much time. I more just layed them out to have something to go with my beat. I plan on upgrading it in the future, like keeping my verse, maybe the second one, but putting a couple more rappe...

I dont understand the whole speaker to record the kick drum?
I have heard this quite a few times but I dont really understand the concept. Would someone mind explaining this a little for me? I think my teacher was telling me he used the NS10's. I wasnt fully following him though. Guess I should have asked more questions but it wasnt really the subject we were...
