By 'use the whole thing' do you mean the entire 30x30 footprint? I was thinking that a control room would give me a smaller area to heat and cool(maybe!) when I was working alone. Why would a bigger room need less treament? Does the larger size cause less reflection problems? Leaving the whole thing...

*UPDATED* 30x30 garage/studio. WWYD

I should soon be building a 30x30 OD building for the purpose of studio/rehearsal space with ability to turn it into a garage in the future. I'm currently thinking about splitting in down the middle and using half for studio and half for garage. It will be built as pole barn construction and insulat...

I really like seeing pics of other studios and setup to get ideas. A couple of my favorite albums were recorded at Jackpot and I love the sound, but I was under the impression that it would take a much bigger space than what I was seeing. My next studio area has gone full circle back to the same hou...

Sorry to bring up an old post, but... If you clip the ends of the extension cord and solder on 1/4" jacks or whatever, then there should be no problem with accidently plugging it into a 120VAC circuit. Now, if you mke an adapter...ZAP!!! I've actually done this a few time. I took the standard orange...

How big is JACKPOT?

So I'm looking at the picture of Jackpot in the latest TapeOp. This place looks really small. And I also see a window air conditioning unit. My question is How tight is/was the soon to be old location of Jackpot. What about heat and air? How was that handled?

Use my old tape machine and a DAW?

Okay. Here's the deal. I do a very limited amount of recording. I would love to have the latest and greatest DAW, but I can't justify the expense. I have a 1/4" 8-track and a borrowed 1/2" 16 track. I generally mix to an old PC using Sound Forge and CD Architect. The setup has worked very well for m...

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm going to do a little more research into the 1010, but the 1010LT is such a good price that I don't think I would be disappointed. I'm not in a hurry to purchase since I haven't even been recording lately, but I'm always looking for something cheap to "solve all my pr...

Delta 1010LT sound card

http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/Delta1010LT-main.html Anyone have any thoughts on this card? I have been recording for years to a 1/4" 8-track reel-to-reel, but wanted more tracks and was also having reliability problems. I went with 2 used ADATs and have had nothing but reliability problems....
