I'm up for it if anyone has a pair of passes! The last one in NYC (i think it was the last one) I got some passes from earthworks. . .

I tried this by having my preamps mult out to both my Alesis AI-3 and a mixer. (mackie 1604 and a tascam m-50). The recorded signal came in crackelly. . .unplugged the cables from the mixers and it was all fine. kentothink has the same setup but with a motu828 instead of the AI-3 and he has no issue...

I'm in a situation like this now and it's starting to iron itself out. The difference is that after the first session, I was already worn. I went in expecting great things as the "lead guitarist" was a good friend of mine and a great musician. He was pumped about it (the band is about 12 to 15 years...

I got a pair of Symetrix SX201s. Anyone have those? They only have 1/4" inputs. . .and 20db of gain. . .figure they're not so useful on their own (anyone care to debunk that assumtion?), but could possibly be useful as EQ or another 20db of gain after my 202s for ribbons? Anyone use these? Opinions?...

I can't even remember when, but it's been YEARS. It was around the first incarnation of the messageboard and I was seraching for some kind of information. . .hmmm. . .could have been when I was doing some Fender Bassman research. . .I forget. Anyway, I stumbled on a post that didn't really help, but...

Re: Symetrix Power Supplies
So i've got 4 symetrix units. 2 SX202s ans 2 SX201s. The 201s state on the back that they require 16VAC/200mA. The 202s just say 16VAC (i assume a simmilar amperage). My first 202 (modded with some upgrade components) came with a Tamura wall wart outputting 16.5V/600mA. The second (untouched) 202 c...

I use this: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=57796 Pretty easy. . .it shows up as a printer and then you just "print" to a PDF file. As far is "IP" goes, it's a tough call. This argument wouldn't be had if things were just "available." If magazines sold reproductions (photocopie...

It sounds like sibalance is the issue here. He liked the recordings done with the M147 at the other studio but he doesn't like the recordings made with your OktavaMod 319 and Ribbons? He thinks they give him a lisp? He likes the Rode but you find it harsh? Sounds like he wants a super bright high-e...

Neumann M147
So i'm in the middle of recording a singer/songwriter right now who INSISTS that he has a lisp in the recordings. We've discussed it and agree that maybe he's not describing it correctly because nobody else is hearing this lisp. He claims that in another studio that he sometimes records at he does N...

I think i'm recording that band right now! Bass actually sounds BAD even without him! He's been using my fender 5 string, though. Recording: Recorded a young band who's bass player didn't know how to play bass. I had to give him lessons and teach him the song and in some cases play the songs. The ba...
