What's up Brian! Your take on A.S. sad but true.

Re: Doves (the band)

I'd love to know where I could even find their DVD here in the states. I agree the new album should prove another fine album from Doves if reviews from Q music magazine are anything to go by (usually they are).

Re: Live to multitrack studio recording?

Thank you, you're very gracious. I thoroughly enjoy the songs we write but I felt compelled to make the disclaimers because of the quality of the recordings themselves.

I'll stop now. I don't want to inadvertantly hi-jack this thread.

Re: Live to multitrack studio recording?

At any rate it was done with no isolation whatsoever, no gobos, no placing the band members far apart from one another, nothing. The room mic is essential in "glueing everyone together" in the mix. Yikes. I just listened to this myself after posting it and two things: 1) the last paragraph sounds l...

Re: Live to multitrack studio recording?

Thanks for all the suggestions! Does anyone else have any or know of any tracks on the web that I could listen to as examples? I am seriously considering dropping $5000 for gear and I want to make sure I am going to get the results I am looking for. First let me say that you can get very good resul...

Re: A Hard Days Night Chorused?!

Well now that you mention it there's no end to the screwing with Beatles relic-ry... the "whole new beautiful" Yellow Submarine is robotic, kind of small-minded sounding. Ahh but I do LOVE what they did to Pauls bass, it has so much more baulce on the remastered Yellow Submarine release. Same with ...

Re: A Hard Days Night Chorused?!

Good thought but I doubt it. What I also should have mentioned is that this sound only occurs on the songs, to the songs. If it were the case of a mismacthed set up or phase issues(ha ha) then it would affect the sound of the entire movie. This is most definitely something that was done to the mixes...

Re: A Hard Days Night Chorused?!

Yes I was, am and have been aware of the things you speak of in regards to the different releases of the LP but on the DVD, on every song, on every aspect of the performance (not just vocals but the WHOLE song) has been processed and I'm most certain that it's a chorus effect. It's somewhat mild but...

Re: A Hard Days Night Chorused?!

Yes but they sure can pooch it and many other songs on the DVD thereby detracting from the listening experience.

A Hard Days Night Chorused?!

Has anyone else seen/heard the DVD release of A Hard Days Night? I was watching it again a few days ago and I can't get over how horribly processed the songs all sound. I swear I'm hearing a chorus effect on every song you hear played throughout the soundtrack. One song I distinctly remember being "...

Re: Doves (the band)

Thank you but I suppose I should have prefaced my post by saying what I'm already aware of, namely the things you mentioned jx. They were called Sub-Sub by the way. Yes their studio did in fact burn to the ground and they were apparently evicted from another. I'm just wondering about the details of ...

Re: commercials are loud.

I suppose you're right nlmd311, as long as the connections are compatible it's all just sound running through a compressor/limiter. I'll have to use my RNC for this purpose as a test before making a purchase.
