Re: Thanks
No compression, but part of the mix (fx send) went through a rack vocal delay that might have some in it. I used to use an RNC 1/3 rack mount box, but didn't really like it. It's out of the chain for now. I'm thinking perhaps harp/vocal tunes may need that compression. I'll do this one over with low...

Thanks
I'll do this one over with lower vocals. How are the harp and guitar?

nice article
but there's little new there. my 2004 cd was out in DVD-A on cdbaby.com in 24/192. Derek Shivers(sp?) just asked that I label those clearly, that they wouldn't play on CD players. When DVD-A was at it's lowest, many were regularly < $10 on Amazon. I still have a Sony DVD-A home unit, that sounds gre...

she's pretty
Is that your daughter? Our kids play the clarinet, their school has a summer band camp, but I think they've only gone to one. They do several concerts a year, and I try to record them when I can. It's where something interesting occurred involving a flute... http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_mcLDq5XUXdE/SpS...

what's bandcamp? it sounds like campmeeting?
Bro Shark wrote:Dude, I think CD Baby died. Can you put your shit on bandcamp or something? Oh wait, bandcamp: there's a totally fair business model selling lossless audio and paying artists directly. What's pono for again?

fwiw - my cd in 192/24 is the same price as cd
Just mentioning that prices often do come down.
10-11 years ago, I sold several folks here on tapeop 24/192 masters in DVD-A format for the same price as my regular CD.
If you think my CD sucks, it's probably because you didn't order/request the 24/192 version ...

well ...
Whether Warner, Apple, or whoever buys them, it could be a win for everyone, assuming they didn't buy them to bury them. Those who are happy with cheap free low res music, will probably get paid to listen to it, and high-res downloads will get cheaper than the initial prices. Downloading a file for ...

don't worry
I'm starting the pono re-mastering company. Eventually all the music will be optimized. Not that I don't think MP3s sound like crap, but how many of these do they really think they are going to sell? And how many millions of units would have to be in circulation before artists I care about bother to...

you just might get double lucky
I am working on mastering some material just for the Pono. And to the other poster, not from Neil, but from someone who's worked with him in the studio for many years - "24/192 LPCM kills SACD" - actually was pretty close to being in TapeOp magazine once, long ago ... Screw Pono, I wanna hear some n...
