There are some work arounds for this... I use HD so I don't have them completely thought out but here's a quick idea for you Open up a session you want to import from with all your plug ins and settings in place. Do a "Save as" and label it "mix template" Next, select all the audio files and clear t...

I've had weird problems when you have 2 sources run phantom through an iso split. i don't think a transformer stops 48v from running through it... I'm not sure what happens if you run phantom through the transformer iso instead of the direct though. I imagine that would be fine... so as long as the ...

some sound guys can get weird about not getting the direct... Depends on the gig and depends on the sound man. If they're not providing phantom themselves, then they *will* know the difference... you could of course do direct to yourself for the dynamic mic channels and iso to yourself on the conden...

The differences are minor from all I've read and can see. I'm not sure if the 003 has word clock... if it does, then you may want to get that so you can interface with your apogee and use it as the master clock source... The preamps are slightly better on the 003 from what I've heard, too. But other...

M-Audio Ozonic Griping...
OK... so it's late and I feel like bitching... So please forgive in advance as I whine and moan... But I figure there may be somebody out there thinking about buying some of this stuff like I did, and at least there could be some benefit from my recent experience... As my father always told me "Noth...

Why is it important to "get heard" in the first place? Is it to make money? Is it for glory and recognition? Is there a bet that somebody needs to win? Morbid curiosity of what success could be? Figuring out the why can often lead to an answer for the how to do it part... As an aside, it seems like ...

I will second the vote for the Lawson L47... I actually prefer the L251, since it is not as common... essentially an ELA-M 251 capsule on a FET body. HUGE Bottom end. Very detailed top end. Perfect for a kick in many ways. I've found that pairing that with a focusrite ISA 428 set on ISA 110 mode imp...

there are several noise reduction plug ins out there. Sound soap is good. Waves X-noise (from their restoration bundle) Digidesign (DINR or BNR) I think TC electronics makes one too, but it might be only TDM. The important thing is to learn how to use it properly. The DINR plug in gets bashed a lot,...

I don't know if this applies to PC, but the file size limit on a mac is 2GB, the last time I checked. This is the main reason you can't get longer than 2 hours. The problem gets worse if you try to mix things in surround since your file sizes triple and tend to be at higher sample rates... There rea...

Anybody have a particular favorite among these ? Specifically, any of them work particularly well on a particular source? I know the Great River is a great overall pre, but I found I liked it best on snare.. The grace 101 never really did it for me... a bit brittle sounding to my ears... I ended up ...

I usually set up 3 aux tracks to send the drums to. One is uncompressed, One has a URS 1975 typically for light compression and then a third will be something like a Purple MC77 or BF76 or smack or something set to squash the crap out of it. I'll send the entire kit to these comps, adjust the attack...
