guitar frequency response & eq
I recently learned the guitar tops out at 1khz. Talk about news. Still don't know if I believe it. So I gather everything above that is harmonics? Knowing this stuff is becoming increasingly important in recording. Any one what freqencies your standard BASS, MID, TREBLE, and PRESENCE knobs on an amp...

Recording bass through a guitar amp
If the speaker is muted, is it o-kay to record bass through a guitar amp? (line or headphone out) Or, is there something about bass frequencies that play havoc on guitar amp circuitry? I know Fender Bassman's are used for guitar all the time, but haven't heard much about the other way 'round

Re: Sequencing, Synths and starting
* Get any one of the top sequencers. (Generally, the simpler the better, at least to start) I've been using the same version of Cakewalk since the mid 90's and don't need anything newer. * Read the manual on the Alesis QS. I did cover to cover (had no idea what I was doing beforehand) and do not reg...

Re: Songwriting: Isolation or Stimulation?
Exactly how I've written anything. Seems like, particularly for lyrics, you write them to say what you wouldn't or couldn't say to someone in conversation. Then again, Portland bars seemed to work well, so long as no one knew what I was doing.DarkMoon wrote:Stimulation followed by isolation...

Re: 24hr Practice Space in Portland, OR??
Try Bill Fisher. He ran a place called the Palace many years back. It was a big Pearl District wherehouse with not a few stories of its own to tell before the mid-90's economic boom turned the area into the slick gentrified wasteland that it is today. If you take a box & carve it up into smaller box...

Re: The Cure production
I'm suprised no one has mentioned anything here about HOW they do what they do, recording-wise. For instance, I gave up a long time ago trying to get the bass sound on "Other Voices", but today I'd guess the part is doubled. I know for bass they've consistently used a Peavey 1000 head with the mids ...
