i just got this choker by locobox. i've been looking for one since the faulkner article almost 6 years ago. it's in the original box, light scratches and sounds pretty cool so far. i'll need a reamp to put it through snare. my bass sounds compressed in a cool way i've never heard. i can only guess ...

Why can't you just set the volume control on your amp to one setting for pedal steel and turn it to another setting for guitar? Are you playing both instruments in the same song without a second to make that adjustment? Compression and distortion can be used together with great results. Distortion p...

You could put the money in a savings account and just keep piling it up until you are finally ready to get into a space. Particularly if you are talking about new gear or common gear at regular prices. My thinking is that my taste in gear changes a little bit over time. You might want different stuf...

I have one and think it's cool.

I keep meaning to reamp tracks through it but haven't gotten around to it. Imagine the weird filtering effect you'd get with that...

Do I understand patchbay organization correctly?

Getting ready to purchase some patchbays. I want to make sure I understand the organization of it correctly so I order the cabling correctly. My typical signal paths (THIS mic input to THAT pre and THAT comp to THAT AD input) or (THIS DA output to THAT board channel to THAT effect insert and back) w...

Lowes and Home Depot usually don't carry it but look for a roofing supply company that caters to contractors. That's how I got my OC703. They were perfectly happy to sell me a couple boxes of it.

Prescription Electronics "Experience" Pedal is way cool. Most of the tracks on Garbage's debut album passed through my Experience pedal at one point or another in the mix sessions. I got a 'thank you' on the album credit because they had borrowed a bunch of my stomp boxes for tracking and mixing. "L...

Yikes!!! I kinda wish I hadn't seen this thread. I was so impressed by the clips that I saw/heard that I went ahead and ordered one. Hopefully it won't really take three months. Considering that I already have a Roland 555 tape echo, a Binson Echorec 2, various EH Memory Mans, and a Moog Analog Dela...

I can summarize this in one word: optigan I bought one "cheap" that "just needed a little work". Well... That was over 5 years ago and it's still in need of that work. I got as far as getting the replacement parts but don't have the time to mess with it. Then I bought a "chopped-tigan" on Ebay. Basi...

I had one of these 10 years ago and sold it a while ago so my memory is a bit faded... It sounded good but if I remember correctly my "gain" control was an inset screw. I had to use a small screwdriver to set the gain. It seemed to definitely be geared towards installations where the gain was going ...

When mixing: When to send AUX, when BUSS?

When mixing, when do you typiclly route signal to reverbs, delays, comps, EQs through AUX send/returns verses BUSS outs and returning to channels? When sending AUX, when do you choose pre verses post fader? I'm self taught and trying to sort out why I do what I do. I record/mix indie rock. Using a n...

The best guitar shop in Madison is definitely Spruce Tree Music. Wil and Julie are the owners/operators and they are the most knowledgable in town. They mainly stock acoustics although they do have some used electrics (a sweet '65 Jazzmaster right now, I just looked) but for strings/straps/picks the...
