Re: Pacific Pro Audio R-one Ribbon mic?

Pardon me PPA but I wanted to draw your attention to this related thread and see if it is in line with the offer that you have graciously put forward. I'm looking forward to the point in this mic quest when people such as myself who require all the details possible be presented so as to make rationa...

Re: Pacific Pro Audio R-one Ribbon mic?

Is there a Michigan "hub"? If this actually becomes organized I might be down for hopping on this bandwagon. Everyone seems to be expecting someone else to do that portion of the task though (as am I). Has anyone decided to structure this beast?

Re: Drums and moving mics between songs

It's all about context. I say that in the broadest, most all encompassing idea that you can possibly garner from reading that statement. The fact that the same set up can sound different even though it has gone untouched, to the best of your knowledge, is because things such as the temperature outs...

Re: Natural chorus!

You know I often wonder what it is exactly that causes natural phasing in mundane things that I hear in normal atmospheres. I often notice that at certain times, which seem indiscriminate and random, while fidgetting with paper in my hands it will often sound as though it has a phaser effect placed ...

Re: Cool Beatles Pic....

Like I said "Ya know sometimes you can do a little work and do a fucking search for stuff? The internet is a glorious thing." You know...if you wanted to get into a semantic argument then you could say that Strat0tele did do a search on the "glorious" internet for his answer and found it, here! The...

Re: Favorite mics for recording tom-tom's?

I recently tried AKG C535EB's on the toms and what can I say... Im really falling in love with those mics for a lot of souces. Yeah those are a decent set of mics. I've used them as overheads and rooms mics from time to time as well and been pleased with the sound I captured using them. I like the ...

Re: Cool Beatles Pic....

http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-9/833581/beatles.jpg [/img] Actually the amp run down is Johns AC-100 set back to Ringos left, George's AC-100 to the immediate right of the kit and Pauls bass amp (an AC-100 head with a AC-60 cab) right next to that. The Fender amp I can't explain other than it ...

Re: Favorite mics for recording tom-tom's?

Well I generally don't use tom mics however for the past couple of bands I've recorded the request was for a "closer sounding kit". I've used SM58s to good response as well as PG56s. I think my favourite yet though was using Oktava MK219s placed about 5" away from the toms to tremendous results. The...

Re: the song with the fattest groove ever.

I still maintain that The Cedar Room by Doves is undeniable yet there are of course others. John Lee Hooker- Boogie Chillun' The Isley Brothers- It's Your Thing The Stone Roses- Fools Gold (surprised I haven't seen that one mentioned here yet) Marvin Gaye- Inter City Blues CCR- Heard It Through The ...

Re: the song with the fattest groove ever.

For shame each and every one of you! Either no one has heard or you all had collective brain fart when leaving out Doves : The Cedar Room Now that is only the introduction to the song and I can't find a better version for you to listen to (literally I'm at work and blocked from finding a better sour...
