Re: Control Room-less studios.

Hi sserendipity. I probably made it sound worse than it really is but I have to admit that in a one room situation you gotta keep tabs on that drummer that just cant stop playing when theres a kit in front of him. It can get on your nerves. I guess thats what i meant by "letting your ears recover"

Re: Control Room-less studios.

I have one and I love it. I love the vibe and the ease and in my case I love the acoustics. I'm not at the level as alot of you but I can do alright. For drums you just need to record and playback a few times to get the sound dialed in. The biggest drawback when recording drums is that after drums a...

Re: MF Blowing out Pro VLA - $239

Hi Red Rockets. Yes you can go into each part separately. Thats why I say I might as well keep the Pro Channel they sent me since I already have another. The comp is the same as the VLA except that I'll have to manually set the knobs the same. No big deal considering the pre is useable and while the...

Re: MF Blowing out Pro VLA - $239

Ha. I got a Pro Channel too but thats fine by me because I already had one Pro Channel. The compressors are the same as the Pro VLA so now I have a pair anyway. My initial intent was to buy the VLA so Id have a pair of the compressors and sell my Pro Channel because I didnt like the pre and I didnt ...

Re: Which Mic Pre would you buy?

I've got a UA 610. I'm actually selling it on ebay right now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3748685724&ssPageName=ADME:B:LC:US:1 The pre is great as far as pres go but it wasn't the right one for me and I figured I would sell it and spread the money out over other little things....

Re: MF Blowing out Pro VLA - $239

Hi awolski. I have the ART Pro Channel. It is a channel strip made up of their other "PRO" line products. It is one channel of the ART PRO MPA preamp which is a pretty good sounding preamp. I'd say its colored (wether that is in a good or bad way is up to you). It is in a different league than the o...

Re: MF Blowing out Pro VLA - $239

I know these were out stock for bit so I thought I'd tell ya.. as of 15 minutes ago they said they had these back in stock so I ordered one. They did say that there is a "24 hour warehouse delay..." Whatever that means. Hopefully I'll have mine next week. Now I REALLY want to sell my ART Pro Channel...

ua m610

I know that there's all sorts of factors affecting the sound, but, I've had my UA M610 for about 6 months now and I'm just not sure I dig the way it sounds. Maybe its just my setup but I think my Sytek (both the stock and Burr Brown channels) sounds more present or up front. All in all just larger. ...

Re: Mixing with additional A-D-A conversion VS. internal sum

This is a great thread. Can someone explain to me exaclty how this would work with a Digi001. (Is it as simple and routing 18 outputs of the 001 into 18 inputs on a mixer and youre only using it while mixing?? ..Or are you using the mixer for tracking? I don't see why youd need to go into a mixer fo...

www.myspace.com webpages?

Since a bunch of people have been listing the names of their studios in a previous thread I was wondering if anybody here had www.myspace.com pages and maybe they could list links? I was thinking it might be cool for all of us cause we could hook up and network through there and keep track of each o...

Re: Raleigh... ? North Carolina...?

MAN! I wish I could make beer night but my trip is going to be short this time around.... I hope to go back within six months though. Do they have good beer there? We have this great dive bar here that has all the greatest beers you could imagine. We used to have a special night set aside called "Po...

Re: Raleigh... ? North Carolina...?

Hi everyone. Thanks so much for all the info. Its really hard for me to decide. I just have to travel and see what I like. I figured opening a studio would be hard anywhere so thats a big conflict for me because I have to weigh the pros and cons of being down here and having a little studio and 0 qu...
