okay folks. Sorry it's been so long between updates - I've been distracted by this little fellow here: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3580/3386994644_a5fd5e4e88_m.jpg Awesome thread ballpein, thanks for posting all this. My Alice is one of the mics I prize the most, but I'm glad I didn't have to bui...

1) I think you've got the right idea. Don't record too close, proximity effect can be a dead giveawy. I'd run a second track with a far mic, as far away as possible - then you can mix between close and far mic to match camera angle. ADR is super tricky - a lot depends on mixing, and a lot depends on...

I thought one of the screws had gone MIA, but turns out it had just stuck itself to the tape on the capsule packaging. I was quite tickled to find it there. I've got one Alice fully assembled, number two ready for assembly. I've only very briefly listened to the finished mic, but I liked what I hear...

This is the friendliest, most helpful community I belong to. I trust the info I receive here more than stuff I get anywhere else. And it's actually pretty amazing that there's very little snottiness or cliquiness here. +1 One suggestion: could a google custom search be added somewhere? either to the...

So awesome. So deluded. I'd say it was a hoax if I hadn't met a few of these guys in real life. I love that there's no mention of woods, electronics... The instructables links are really funny too - he basically hijacks some guys' thread to post pics of his guitars. next time you all are in a store ...

I finally settled on the symetrix 501 for my bass rig. I fucking love that thing. Before that, I used: -various pedals - all were tone suckers, and un-flexible -RNC - yeah, some distortion on release, but otherwise worked pretty good. I wanted something that could get thumpier though -166XL - it did...

buying an re-501 tape echo - what to look for?
Hey folks, I'm thinking about buying a Roland RE-501. Haven't seen it in person yet, but pictures look like it's in very good condition. Seller says he's the second owner. What should I be checking out when I go to see it in person? Does anyone have a manual, perchance, or could someone offer a quic...

Alright, I know you guys are on the edges of your seats about me losing muscle power overnight. Well I figured out what happened. On my old kit I had like a 20$ pedal with extremely loose spring tension and no adjustability, but with my new kit I got an Iron Cobra. So without even realizing it I wa...
