Re: Suggest me an All-In-One Digital Recorder unit

I used the Korg D112 forever and I beat the shit out of it. It was great to me. I've since sold it cause I got PT. But I've borrowed my friend's D1600.....it sounds like thats your answer. You should really check it out. I never even opened my manual. Easy to use, decent effects, 8 ins, you can't be...

Re: Does this ever happen?

Yea that's true. It was just that the more I thought about it it seemed like the guy just went through the mixer and into the deck, not even bothering to use anything else. I can't be too sure though. It was just a though.

Does this ever happen?

I had this paranoid/arbitrary feeling today that sometimes big studios don't use a lot of their "good stuff" for clients that they're simply not interested in. I know this sounds weird but a band I was in years ago recorded at a really nice place. This place was loaded with all sorts of great new an...

Re: ACDC - Thunderstuck

All I can say about the Razor's Edge recording and on Thunderstruck in particular is that it sounds like they did the old Mutt Lang trick on the gang vocals. This trick involves recording two tracks of whispering shouts, then adding reverb and hard-panning them. It makes it sound like a huge crowd. ...

You'll all appreciate this

I just finished recording backing vocals on my bands album here in my room. I forgot the popper stopper at our bandroom so I needed to come up with something. Best thing I could find was my girlfriend's bright purple Langerie. So i got this thing draped over the mic and of course I'm doing these abs...

Re: bad habits in R&B/Hip Hop

My buddy records rap all the time at his place. I always pop in and hangout. It's so funny they just show up with a cd and a posse and double track into a U87 through an avalon. Then mixing takes 8 minutes and they're on their way home. Kinda sad. It's amazing how often he says they pull out guns. R...

String Arrangement alternatives

So I don't know anyone who plays violin or cello.......are there cool alternatives? Are there keyboards that can do a good enough/not-too-cheesy job? Anyone have any luck using samples? Just trying to figure something out. thanks

Re: Anyone use VocAlign for Pro Tools?

Dave Sardy did the Jet record. He's a really talented fella. He mixed that Supergrass album that was out last year that sounded like T-Rex which was amazing. I don't think that Jet would be as big if he hadn't put his touch on that record.

Does anyone know of any good ones? I'm trying to find a list or something. Small to large scale. Thanks.

tips on getting vocals to sit in the mix

We're mixing our record and trying to find a way so that the vocals are good and loud but still sit really well in the mix. We've only just started mixing but I was wondering if anyone has any unconventional tricks or tips they'd like to share. Thanks buds

Re: Green Day's American Idiot

I ran 10 miles the day this album came out. I love it. I wonder a lot about the production and mixing too. The must have atleast mixed it in protools. Between automation and this and that, plus I think those Lord-Alge people only mix on protools. I saw them live and they played almost the whole reco...
