So I worked out a flat rate for this LP that I am mixing unattended. I send them a mix, and they must provide feedback within 48hrs. I got my first list of changes and it was two pages long! On one song! Most of the changes are reasonable, but I am afraid that every mix will also have pages ...

I would say use a Fuzz pedal/plug-in adjust the tone to clear out most of the lower frequency fuzz. Blend this with the original track to taste. The magic is going to be when you find the right frequency of the fuzz to use. I sometimes band pass the fuzz just so I can really focus in on the area whi...

It's actually a false ceiling, the ceiling panels (soft wood shingles) are at about 10' then the actual ceiling goes to about 12-13ft. I'm a little afraid to over-deaden the room considering I have an entire wall covered with thick drape. I guess I could do underheads, or behind the kit with the bac...

Figure 8 on overheads. Are the walls closing in on me?
Wanted to start messing around with ribbons on overheads, but was looking for a story or two on the potential pitfalls of the approach. #1 Will the ceiling height cause reflection problems for the figure 8 pattern? #2 With the tightened polar pattern will a spaced pair lack a strong center image? #3...

Looking for an improved LDC pair. Mojave or MG perhaps?
So right now I have a pair of unmatched AKG 414 b-uls, and an often unused pair of Groove Tubes 66s. I need a better pair of matched LDCs I have known this for awhile now, but was hopping for some advice. I have been looking at the Mojave Audio MA-201(fet) and the MA-200(tube). I was also considerin...

Depending on the style of music adding harmonic content (distortion) to your Bass DI track can help. As Larry mentioned you can re-amp it through a guitar amp and try to drive it a little. My favorite is any 1176 style comp (I use an MC77) when driven those comps produce all kinds of upper harmonics...

I always wonder why threads like this exist. Any decent vendor (e.g. Mercenary) is gonna let you have a "tryout" period for gear in your own studio and you can just return the unit if it doesn't work. So, put the dang thing in your studio and see if you like it. See if it works for you. Then let us...

Attended vs. Unattended sessions. Different Rate?
Whilst mixing do you find Unattended sessions are a way to save you're clients money and your self time? Is it ever worth it to lower you're rate to work alone?
Thanks
