You are just aligning the wave forms for one freq, (Really 2 freqs that are very similar). If you pass a signal through something and the "tone"changes then its most likely affecting the phase, and it will affect each freq differently. This is how most EQs work, you are just changing the freq of the...

How do you figure it would amplify LF issues? It seems to me that drapes with some real weight to them would act like a membrane absorber, "giving" a little with the high-energy LF pressure waves. From what I have read, from a listening standpoint, if you dampen the highs and leave the lows un-trea...

Is this the same as charging sales tax on labor? Just curious. I started as a freelancer this year not only in audio but in graphic design. I have one huge client on the design side of things that is my bread and butter. If I have to charge them sales tax let me tell you I'll be out of a job. And b...

Been looking at the MOTU stuff myself, most interesting threads I have seen so far: This one is related to the BLA mods http://www.gearslutz.com/board/low-end-theory/564195-how-bad-motu-828-mkii-audio-conversion-lets-find-out-2.html One post I found interesting - i don't mean to open a can of worms,...

My guess is the different transformers. The schematics I have seen make no mention of it, but I have seen 2 different transformers in them. The older ones look like the ones you see in the M68, they are metal cased but have a large plastic cap on them. The newer ones are all metal. Most of the M68s ...

Thanks Rod! You also may want to consider just a standby switch for it. (Although you will hear others say not to place a tube in standby and still feed it a signal YMMV) You suggest this just for the sake of ease/convenience over the more complicated switching, or is there another advantage? -c Mo...

I would suggest unloading the cards and moving on, PCI hasn't been easily available on computers for at least a few years now, so it's time to let it go, as many owners of UAD 1 and older Pro Tools HD systems can tell you. I will argue with you about the availability of PCI slots in new computers. ...

Most of those CineMags would do fine, I would stick with the ones that they recommend for tube pres. The CMMI-10C always looked attractive to me, more choices of ratios and impedances. Your choice of the pot for the EF86 stage looks on track. This acts as the shunt resistor. If you can?t find a clos...

Build your own, you usually get more bang for your buck. We just did one using an Asus MB that had 3 PCI slots. They still have several AMD boards that support the latest processers with 2 or 3 PCI slots. EDIT The MB we used: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131646 We also w...

As an example, check out the Earl Scruggs and Lester Flatt show episodes on Netflix. They left all the comericials in. These are from the late '50s and early '60s. Most ppl are use to seeing the old clips on YouTube and everything is stripped out except the music. The amount of time spent on ads wou...
