A CRT with a composite video input? That's odd - are you sure you're talking about a CRT and not a standard television?

I think the 'tap' came from electronics terminology referring to 'tapping' off a particular signal chain. It essentially means you're going to connect to that signal without interrupting it. Mulit-tap taps into that signal at different intervals that determine it's delay time.

Are you talking about a television monitor or a CRT/TFT/LCD monitor - the difference being the type of input (S-Video, Composite, etc. vs DVI, ADC).

Yup, there are some known issues with FW on MDD model G4's. Do you have other FW devices connected?

The best, easiest solution would be to get a FW PCI card ($30 or so) and connect the drives to that.
