Re: Aiight, so we're a lotta musos here
I tend to think of the rat as a dirty boost that progresses into fuzz depending on how you use it. Taking the diodes out of circuit really emphasizes the boostiness, and also gives an idea of the amount of clipping it's capable of. True fuzz is enough different tho, that I think it's more of a close...

Re: Cheap Sleeper Fuzz Pedals for Guitar
The two modes, like on a Superfuzz are not two different fuzz circuits. They are just choosing between two tone settings after the fuzz circuit, one being scooped and bassy, the other being bright and piercing. People have figured out that you can set the Behringer switch right in between the two s...

Re: Let's talk your favourite manual fades
Back in my Boss BR8 days, the master fader would get glitchy at the bottom of its travel and do terrible things that were sometimes really cool. But mostly just really terrible.
I've always liked what happens at about the six minute mark on this track

Re: Too old?
Was really glad I got to see Dr. John a couple years before he passed. He was obviously old and frail, but he still had it.
Passed on the Soundgarden show I should have went to shortly before Cornell died, and instantly regretted it when i heard the news.

Re: Voltage: How much is too much? Do I need a regulator?
I have a few tube amps that were designed for use with 110v AC, and the typical 125v in my space isn't ideal for them. I use a bucking transformer specifically for this gear, otherwise I don't worry about it.
127v is 105.8% of 120v, well within tolerance for anything designed to that standard.

Have you also tried the suggestion of watching the meter on a compressor, to see if its behavior matches what you're hearing in the room?gravitychapters wrote: ↑Thu Apr 08, 2021 7:09 pmThe simple suggestion about headphones turned out to be instructive: the part sounds much more even in cans than through my monitors.

Re: monitor stands
There are several flavors of liquid nails, F-26, and similar construction adhesives. Several of them say right on the tube, "not for use with pvc". I'm not sure if the issue is that the pvc isn't porous enough to bond, or if the adhesive will melt it too much - which is how pvc glue works, btw, but ...

The other day I had a conversation about the new batch of songs Danny Elfman has been releasing, and my friend said it was pretty smart to do them one at a time to maximize listens/views/interaction.

I have an imbalance, and one ear suffers fatigue quicker than the other.

Re: Tube amp guru, help me
In the research that I did, many seemed to think the EH 7591 was better than the JJ, neither was better than the older versions, but the lapse in manufacturing and the resulting scarcity/high prices made NOS a gamble. I believe the 7591 was designed to be a juiced up 6L6, and pushed the limits of wh...

Re: Tube amp guru, help me
7591's are a bit oddball, and the current versions i know of aren't much more than an approximation of the original spec. I'd assume a modern production amp would accommodate this, but, for instance, my Ampeg vastly prefers the EH over JJ variety, and it still required some circuit tweaks due to mod...

I would imagine you want to consult a structural engineer as well - once you start hanging a lot of extra mass from the structure that may not have been designed for that? don't want your roof/floor to cave in... here's a floor deflection calculator: https://www.johnbridge.com/vbulletin/deflecto.pl...

How does treating fabric with flame retardant spray compare to fabric that is flame retardant?
