The reamp can only do what it says: reamp. Can it not also record as the D.I. before you send the signal back out? This may seem naive but I was hoping to find a box that does both, because they seem like such similar functions. The Radial stuff looks cool, only you need a DI and their reamp to do t...

i would disagree about the 602, IN CONTEXT... i haven't listened to these clips, and i'm not going to, because hearing a solo'd kick mic shootout, with none of the mics in their ideal position is useless... the 602 gets used on every rock session i do, and it doesn't necessarily mean that the bass ...

Doing the Lunchbox thing-

As I've perused this wide world of preamp/compressor/eq options on the internet, I've been struck by the fact that the cheapest way to get a single channel of professional grade preamp is lunchbox style. Api, the new Shinybox, I believe Hamptones. Is there a cheap and easy way to get a lunchbox to s...

Use of expensive mics on a live stage?

My friends band opened for Fleet Foxes last night. I noticed Fleet Foxes had brought their own mics on tour with them. I applauded the use of a 421 on the toms, wondering why more people don't use such a nice sounding and durable dynamic mic in live setups. What freaked me out is they had a coveted ...

You cheated, you have an extra kick mic

But seriously I love the cock painting. That looks like a comfy place to record.

No, you're right. Sorry, don't mean to bust your balls. I was more reacting to how much I can't afford one in contrast to how much I want one. But go on, get rid of it.....lucky dog.

Not to get amazingly off topic, but what the hell is with GC and marketing the hell out of Audix? I don't want to compartmentalize every employee there, because I've definitely talked to some smart people, but GC seems overrun with employees under 21 who are very subject to fads. Guys that love to ...

Interesting, I usually point it more towards the snare/hi hat from the other side of the floor. This is what's great about this setup is the net effect of any placement tweaking. With close-miced drums any adjustment creates a mild change in the sound of that particular drum, whereas with these kind...

Oh yeah, the 16. That's maybe a little steep, but even if you were mega generous I probably couldn't swing it right now. Those things are nice, and pricey. Are you sure an Apogee wont be a bit of a downgrade?

wow, you can get the older rokit 5's for like 200 bones a pair on ebay no problem. Maybe this is an incredibly affordable, albeit mild, upgrade from my Alesis M1's. I might have to brave GC today to do some listening. Hopefully this time the pro audio department won't try to convince me to replace a...
