Yeah, I just found this which gives me hope (and another reason to get back to Home Depot):

I'll ask the wife about the paint when she gets home, no worries.

Christ.

You know, I still have a bunch of unused mineral wool slabs that I initially had used in the ceiling joists in that room. Maybe I'll just try to find a way to make that work.

Thanks again for the ongoing help. Otherwise I would have spent my Saturday hanging useless diffusers.

Ah, crappy internet repostings and the wrong materials from Home Depot. I still have the receipt but since they were originally 8' but cut to 4', I wonder how liberal their policy will be. They didn't have the 703 and the guy said that this was 'essentially the same thing'. Neat. This looks like wha...

Right on. I still have a big sheet of luan board I can glue them to and hang em.

The rule is the width (thickness) of the cloud is the distance they should hang from the ceiling correct?

Going to be a good weekend.

Awesome.

Must be amazing to work with a drummer like Jojo. He seems like a nice enough dude and the guy is a frickin' drum machine in a human body.

Not to hi-jack the thread but for what it's worth, Bill Ward said he never was in love with his drum sound on any Black Sabbath record. He also started using a mix of drums around 73 or so. He'd like a tom on one drum and the floor tom of another, etc. He also lived in a tent with his girlfriend in ...

Perfect. Thank you so much.

Can I just glue them direct to the ceiling or do I need to attach them to plywood and then hang them?

So took a trip to Home Depot and procured 8 2x4 slabs of TG R10 and then over to the cloth store for some black fabric. Time to get cracking. I drew up a extremely rough sketch of the ceiling plan: http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee315/VivaLajitas/Drums/cloudy-1.jpg http://i230.photobucket.com/al...

that rug looks great but i bet it'll sound a lot better in there without it. Really!? I kind of thought I needed it for drums as I don't want the hardware clawing into the floors but I thought that it certainly couldn't hurt as far as my attempt to deaden down the flutter. But obviously I'm...

You don't have to cover the whole ceiling. You can work around the lights. As JWL said you do increase the effectiveness of the panels if you have a space (same depth as the panels) behind them (wood blocks will work for this). As far as placing the drums in your room. You wouldn't want them exactl...

Zizz it into the ceiling and hide all the nylon tip drumsticks (cause they sound bad anyway:) For absorption no space between the panel and the ceiling is really needed. Stick it on the ceiling. Any idea what I should do about the recessed lighting? Just kind of work around it if I'm drilling the p...

Here's my total lack of knowledge talking but...

would it be cheaper (or more effective) to install a drop ceiling at 8' and treat a couple of tiles?

sure would look ugly as sin...
