LDC capsule, tube mic PSU PCB, paper in oil caps

hey 'yall - i'm moving and cleaning off the bench - - spare LDC capsule. this is from an MXL 2001 that I upgraded the capsule on. but, really, this capsule sounded actually really great. the lore about 'hey, early MXL products were actually done well' is rather true for consumer stuff. so, if you wa...

a test pressing should be immaculate. i've found them to be a bit... sharper... crisper... and hi-fi... than the regular run... of course, the end of the stamper's life is duller... the beginning is the crispest... but, i've learned the hard way that any noise, wow, flutter, warble, surface noise, h...

if the tube is wired to a PCB, and the PCB is wired as a pentode, you'll have to cut traces and run little jumper wires to have it run correctly. the main difference you'll do is cut the trace for g2 from the board. make sure it doesn't have any remaining connection. jump g2 to A. g3 is already eith...

each cap has a different sound. seriously. i'm not sure if i would personally enjoy a silver mica as the main input cap.... it'll be wideband, and detailed. accentuated top treble. in non-scientific terms... i'd call micas 'zippy', yet hi-fi. polypropylene will be a sonic place inbetween polystyrene...
