Re: Covers on album question
If you go to the harry fox agency on the web, you'll learn all you need to know about what you should pay for each cover. Not paying the fee is illegal. Paying the fee for most of us who press 100 CDs and give half of them away is stupid. I did an album of Dylan covers and the fee came to something ...

An awful lot of stuff by Bjork, starting with Hyperballad.

Re: My oldest client has betrayed me by trying to record at
I have to take issue with the whole premise of this thread: LOOK WHAT MY CLIENT HAS DONE TO ME! HOW COULD SHE BETRAY ME THIS WAY? She was going to your studio to create her music, not to make you happy. Now she wants to try it on her own - because it's something she wants to do, not because she's tr...

Ooo - that's a rather aggressive way of dealing with a problem....On the other hand, I threw a mac in the dumpster, and it won't be replaced.
You should've thrown it my way. I would've gotten a lot of use out of it. What kind was it? What was the problem?

Re: Thoughts on 'Social Security Reform'
There was a good report on Marketplace (NPR) the other night regarding SS privatization. Every other country that has done this with their versions of Social Security have done terribly. One of the worst things is the administrative fees that private for-profit agencies charge your account. Then the...

Agreed. I haven't had a virus on my Macs yet - ten years and going strong.

Re: eyeglass wearing people: should these hurt?
Wear them all the time for a month and see if you get used to it. If not, then go back to the eye doctor. I went through the same thing when I got glasses at 29 and then bifocals at 44. I got used to it and the headaches went away, but only because I left them on all the time. But, boy, was it a bit...

Re: DAW info needed
P.S. You're suffering from info overload. Reading about all these details is only going to paralyze you into doing nothing. We all know people who keep talking and debating specs and features and potential problems with this and that software or hardware and never end up making a decision (or an alb...

Re: DAW info needed
Hi I'm throwing a monkeywrench into your plans. Buy a Mac and use apple's Garageband. I think it costs $49 (or maybe it even comes with new Macs) and has gotten very good reviews. The Mac will have a CD burner in it. You can also record to the system drive with no problems. When you get REALLY busy ...

they took one look at bush and thought "now here's someone who's intellectual, who has an ivy league degree, who can speak smoothly and intelligently, what could he say that would interest me?" i was about to sneeze at the time but i ended up laugh-sneezing and some snot/spit got on the dashboard a...

Re: Yay. Close the libraries!!!
I guess people are afraid that they'll read too much, get smarter, and realize they voted to put an incompetent criminal in the White House.
I'm sure the NeoCons are happy, though. The more stupid the general population gets, the more they can get away with.

If you get the gig, by it somewhere other than Apple. Otherwise, I've been running DP with 512 for years with no problem.

I'd ask a doctor. They could be causing skin irritation at the least or an infection at the worst.

Re: the new G5s--best option?
I'd come back here and list all the options you were thinking about and find out which ones you can get somewhere else (starting with the monitor and the RAM). Apple makes great computers, but they charge an arm and a leg for most of the options. I only consider them to have three G5 products - the ...

Re: dp4 bounce to disk issue.
What works better and has a stunning effect on the audio quality with DP is recording all of your tracks down to a stereo track manually and exporting that out from the soundbites window. I couldn't belive the difference when I tried this. Call me skeptical, but I don't see the difference. It's all...
