I would guess the walkman could be used to play samples.
The extra wire coming out the back could be a play/pause button.
I used to play a star trek sound-effects tape this way.

Hey, I'm working on a studio build and wondered if anybody has done the research to find the best price for 5 gallon buckets of Green Glue? Also interested in recommendations for companies with less than lowest prices, but you feel should be supported for one reason or another. I'm on the West coast...

I would look for a free kimball or some other undesirable organ with the Leslie adapter kit and pull that. Look for one with the Leslie half moon switches.

I had a set of Blue Onyx for a while and had the same issue.
I pulled the mute assembly apart and put little felt strips around the screws, between the springs.
It helped. I also stuffed all the Beavertail lugs with more felt, as some of those springs were kinda loose and would make noise too.
