Classic Audio Products of Illinois VP26 w/Red Dot 2520 op-amp. I am seriously like a kid waiting for Christmas to come right now. I also picked up a second vintage Alamo lap steel since I'm playing mine a bunch and need a backup. Identical to the one that I already own (that was previously owned by...

Actually that's #60, but who's counting? :)

I located my copy of #79 (which I actually bought), so between that and #43, I'm excited to revisit those drum prep and tuning articles. By now, I have quite a stash of back issues. They are a great resource and fun to reread!

In the early days of dub, Tubby and others had only regular reel to reel decks that could produce only a single echo regeneration, hence the need for the feedback loop. I believe Lee Perry was the first to incorporate an RE-201. (nice screen name BTW), I've never really messed with an actual Roland ...

This is kind of a long-winded thread, but it seems to cover the same question you are asking:

The sound you are looking for involves sending the source into a channel on a mixer and then out to the Space Echo. Then sending the Space Echo output back into the mixer, routing it back into the Space Echo and back into the mixer and .... well you get the idea. Increasing the level going into the ...

Not the most recent purchase, but one I have been appreciating a lot lately: a fairly beat-up looking Shure Beta 52 with the logo missing, purchased in a pawn shop for a nice price. I have really been enjoying this on both kick drum and bass amp. Does a really nice job on a 59 P Bass reissue with fl...

Awesome! Thanks for letting me know. I'm going to dig around until I find that issue and check it out. Also the Dave Mattacks article on drum tuning in #43, which was also mentioned.

We have a 1960s gold badge Ludwig kit here that could benefit from some TLC. Thanks again!

Past article on preparing drums for the studio?

Can anyone tell me in what issue the article relating to preparing drums for studio recording appeared? I believe it may have been written by Chris Garges. It had loads of info on getting the best sounds out of drums, eliminating extraneous noise, and the like. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

LOL. That yodeling is pretty crazy. I think that song is kind of an answer tune to John Coltrane's 'A Love Supreme.'

Hey shedshrine, is that a tube receiver/integrated amp (with the cover off) in a couple of your photos? Looks like tubes and big transformers in there.

I have a fair amount of vinyl from my DJ days (as in 'DJ EasyGo'). Here are a few highlights: Johnny Cash's first Sun LP and Howlin Wolf's first LP on Chess, both found on the same day at the Maxwell St. Market for a buck each. http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j290/djeasygo/Vinyl/johnny_wolf.jpg Th...

. Easy-- Somewhere, I have a 28" ride cymbal. For real-real! I'm not sure of the exact dimensions of my drummer's ride, but he had Sabian custom make it for him, it is the largest possible stamp, it goes right to the edge as close as they could go. Its got to be 36" or bigger. Sweet tone, I can't w...
