Re: Oktava MK319 two for $100 at Guitar Center
Wanted to share a hip/hop story related to this mic. So I start working on these vocals and the irregular proximity thing combined with strange, non-dead acoustic space ambiance that only gets aggravated by compression made them exceptionally difficult to work with. Who knows how much got lost just...

Re: Oktava MK319 two for $100 at Guitar Center
I never got the flyer and the people at GC never know what's going on... I get as many different storys at the number of salespeople I ask. Are just the MK-319 on sale, or are the MK012 on sale too? Just this month? The MK-012 was supposedly on sale last month, but if it's still on sale, I'd really ...

Re: Oktava MK-319 mic review
Well, I got one and I think it sounds pretty good. For the few negative posters, claming cloudy, gauzy, and dark sounding or whatever, it is important to note that as stated by a cazillion other people that these sometimes have quality controle issues that make some sound pretty bad. I mean, how man...

Re: How To Properly Turn On And Off Phantom Power????
Very good. Thanks for the help!! Oh yea, one more thing... what about a mixer with phantom power tha's just always on? My mixer's phantom power is always on. Will it hurt mics to plug into them? I guess you have to power down the whole mixer? Also, this would prove that it doesn't hurt dynamic mikes...

Re: How To Properly Turn On And Off Phantom Power????
Interesting. Is this because there could be some way to short the 48V when plugging in the mic? Just wondering why because won't a power supply possably have some spikes or something else harmefull to the mic by powering on "after" mic is connected? Thanks!

How To Properly Turn On And Off Phantom Power????
I just got a LD condensor microphone and a tube preamp with switchable phantom power. I thought I read that you can hurt a mic or the power supply or something unless you go through some proper procedure for connecting and powering the mic. Is there some "DOs" or "DONT'S" when dealing with phantom p...

Replacement Elastic String For Shockmount Mic Holders
Hi all... Anyone know a good place or replacement for the elastic string for "shockmount" mic holders? I need to resting because the top elastic string broke and the bottom is gonna go too. For the moment I'm using some cheap crap I got at a cloth store that works in a pinch, but want something bett...

Re: Bass/Treble Roll Off On Mics
Wow. This gives me lots to try as I like tubes, transformers, and distortion, as well as ramming mics up the ying-yang of old celestions operating at near thermal melt down. The concept that frequencys not really heard anyway are effecting other devices so you should play with cutting them and see h...

Re: Bass/Treble Roll Off On Mics
Hmm... I have two mics with bass roll off: a Sure SM-7 and a EV RE-15 (both over 20 years old). How will I want to experiment using them... on vocals and guitar when other are involved? Any other situations? Man, I've learned on this and other boards over the past month that there sure is alot more ...

Bass/Treble Roll Off On Mics
So with all the info I'm reading about recording, tell me if my thinking/thought process reguarding recording is correct... For mikes with a "bass roll off" switch, if you are recording, say... acoustic guitar, some readings have suggested rolling off the bass by using the switch on the mic to cut s...

Best Low Cost LDC Mics Oktava MK319? Marshall V67?
OK, I know.... but I'm reading various good things by people like Harvey Gerst, etc. that say that they use Marshall V67 and Oktava mikes and that they sound good. Supposed to be good for the money... It doesn't sound as favorable for the Rode mics. So if GC has Oktava MK319 and MK012 mics for $50 e...

Re: Bellari RP 503 have audio transformers? Any Good?
Thanks guys. Then for a $100, I'll try it. It will be my first commercial preamp as the first ones that I've had experiance with have been tube preamps that I've built for myself. I figured if it sounded kinda constricted or limeted, I could put better caps in the signal path and better input/output...
