***SOLD *** Old School Audio (OSA) MP1 Mic Pre - 500 series

Old School Audio (OSA) Mic Preamp This is an older OSA MP1 - the input transformer is similar to the MP1A but this one is not labeled as such. I recently recapped it and added bypass caps. I also replaced the gain knob with a bigger one, but the original is included too. To me, it sounds similar to ...

I didn't get a hit on searching for PM-400 but if you have any other model numbers maybe it went by something else too?

too close to another device? Power supply transformers (above it or below it in a rack) can sometimes be nasty.

My closest neighbors are probably 200ft away so I'm hoping that this will get the job done as is. and I didn't budget for RC or green glue. right now the room I use has 2x4 constuction and 1 sheet of sheetrock (and no complaints yet) so I think this should be an improvement.

Just talked with my "new" contractor and looks like we have a plan - will submit for build permits and sign contract Monday. I will try to post some pictures here as the build progresses. when done, essentially I will have a 19' x 25' room with 10' ceilings - but they will be vaulted so the center w...

Did you get your free Line6 POD Farm?

I just downloaded POD farm for free from the Line6 site. I bought the Toneport DI gold last year when they were blowing them out for $99. They were trying to "upgrade" me to Pod farm for $79 and now it's free? OK, yeah, I'll try it for free. It's kind of a pain in the butt for me since my studio com...

It's the Burden Brothers - and yes if you like the Toadies you will probably like it too. I'm looking forward to seeing the reunited Toadies in a couple weeks at the Austin City Limits festival! 8) 8) 8)

p.s. Todd Lewis is the guitarist/singer and Rubberneck is a great album.

I've never scientifically measured them but I'm guessing they have somewhere around 60 dB gain - just an estimate though.

get the specs of the original and compare to other brands - then find something new or on eBay

Cinemag, Jensen, Edcor (cheap), Crimson, Altran, Lundahl, Sowter - they all probably make something that woudl do the trick but ultimately may sound a little different than the original.

definitely like overhead for flute - I used a 414 once and it worked great. I did a recording recently where we used a Sennheiser MD409 on the tenor sax and it was incredible (but so was the saxophonist) - incredibly smooth. If I had to mic a clarinet I'd probably want to try that mic again - it may...
