Ok my first response was gong to be "I'll tell you for $35" but I've turned over a new leaf- Rhythm Ranch has the right Socratic question to answer your question. Others would be: what is the nature of the venue and what arrangements can you make with the FOH guy (i.e., can you access pre-eq and pre...

Seriously! the Tranzport is up there with the SM57, fire, and the wheel as far as inventions go. I use mine ALL THE TIME. While a Faderport gathers dust on my shelf. I just looked at Frontier Design's user forum and found a discussion related to this. Here's what they say: "Given the economic downtu...

I have a Whirlwind Leader Elite guitar cord I bought when I was in high school - almost exactly 20 years ago - and have played nearly every gig since then with it. I don't know how or why, but it has never let me down and I've never lost it. It has long molded strain reliefs, that are molded over th...

My old house had Milgard dual pane windows and a custom 12' Milgard slider. I could stand in the back yard, 20 feet from the house, and SEE the drummer bashing away in my living room, but couldn't hear him. In all the time I lived there, with all the bands and parties, I never once received a noise ...

i'm drinking enough coffee for both of us and i can't believe these guys think those crappy ceiling tiles look cool. I also think Falcon station wagons, avocado green appliances and old Sonor teardrop drumsets look cool. So, basically, anything a normal person thinks is uncool is right up my alley....

True, true. I dp think a combination would be the ticket. And in every old 60s picture I see of a recording studio, the walls are at least partially covered in those tiles. Like United/Western, Gold Star, Columbia NY, etc etc... It's by far the coolest looking acoustic treatment. It worked fine for ...

That looks like just plain old-school 12" ceiling tiles to me. I really want to do up my studio in them, and they are still available:

Oh yeah, and also who said, "Hey burning organic material! Lets inhale it."? If we're going to go there, who the hell was the first person who figured out how to cook and eat an artichoke? That's what I want to know. I have a distinct memory of being like 2 years old, or something like that, small ...

Wow. An oyster black Ringo kit and a couple KM54's, with the 18" crash almost touching the wall?

I guess it's like the guitars on the first Zep album being done with Tele and a tiny Supro amp -- looks can be decieving. So can sounds.

I have a pair of KRK Rockit 8's. Maybe it's my room. But they lie lie lie! Hyped high end that's hard to tame with the rear panel knob without just making them worse. And when pushed, they compress instead of clipping. I use them at the space to make sure I'm actually getting sound onto disk, but fo...

Anyone ever use this stuff? It looks like the ceiling from an old Howard Johnson's.

You know, I'm really impressed with my new LA610. I had a M610 for some time, but the compressor is really useful. It works great on giving that all import "warmth" to vocals and is also an amazing bass DI. +1 from me on this box - love it for many vocals (not all, but fortunately mine work great t...
