first of all, thats an ass backwards regulation. garage doors are about the ugliest thing on a house.
second, i say you just fudge up doors with plywood and a router. fakies. maybe even put in lil windows that have a painting of a car and old paint cans behind it.

compressors: oldtimer and rocket, plus fair amount of logic built in. eqs: 1973 and logic built in (often in linear). reverb: sound designer (any convolution will do), michael norris spectral averaging (not a reverb really, but i love it on vocals paired with a delay) effects: hipno suite (um, that ...

Over the years, I have figured something else out: when someone says "SOunds like tape".. I have no fucking idea what they are talking about. the nice thing about convolution (and especially dynamic convolution) is that your output material will sound "like" tape. not exactly, but something close. ...

absolutely, a nice compressor on the mix buss if you are ITB is a great way to go. as you are saying, it glues the songs in a way that emulates automatic analog niceness of some devices. you can cheat even more and say submix to 8 busses or so, and strap something on all of those, AND put something ...

esoteric gear like the original earthworks LAB pre, which claimed insane specs, and then I treied it and everything I recorded with it made no sense. The sound certainly didnt fool anyone into thinking it was "live and not memorex" funny, i have one of those! it pairs TERRIBLY with earthworks mics....

basically most of my songs are highly dependent on stuff that runs on pluggo architecture. pluggo has been abandoned by cycling74 for a few years now. so that means that my 2006 computer will remain 2006 in hardware and OS till i get the guts to render all my songs and move on. its one thing to have...

you are getting hung up on the wrong things. SDCs and LDCs are not that inherently different the way that say, dynamics and condensers are, or even certain SDCs vs other SDCs. if you are looking for different overheads, what are you currently not happy about with your carvins? do you need mics to do...
