Re: Places to play in Santa Cruz, Sacto, and Portland...

Sac haha! The good 'ol Boardwalk... Literally just down the street from me where I run my studio out of my home! Don't seem to really get any of those bands here though... Fox & Goose has stage now? People come all the way from NY and play Old Ironsides... Nothing I've seen has been very special the...

Re: Davisound

Everything here but "Last Days" (recorded many years before I even heard of DaviSound) was recorded exclusively with my DaviSound TB-3. The only exception is drums, where it's used only on the overheads.

Re: Davisound

Well, I've dealt with them for the past few years... Nothing but positive things from me.. First bought a custom design of a 2" 24-track based around the Ampex VR-1000 video transport with a custom 24-track Norelco audio head for the VR-1090. Then bought the TB-3, TB-8, and TB-1. Currently, have a m...

I need a partner too... This type of arrangement being perfect for me too! I have gear too though, so even a very nice room only would be cool. Too bad I'm here and you're there! WTB: TRS-to-TS Insert Snake(s) and TRS-TRS Snake

I need used TRS-to-TS insert snake(s) and TRS-TRS snake(s) at least 15-20 feet long. I need about 16-ch. 2 8-ch. would be fine too. Anyone have anything for sale? Belden, Gepco, Mogami, or Gotham, is fine. It just needs to last me a year. If nothing else, have any used or new raw snake cable for sup...

Re: What is it you are doing?

I'm the first one to take the poll. I selected 'I work exclusively out of my home'. But the truth is, it's my mom's house! While NOT what I consider "ideal" or the place I prefer the studio to be, working out of a home does have the benefit of no building rent. That's a HUGE benefit and allows me to...

Re: Quiet Air Conditioner for Summer Recording

Speaking of A/C... What about those non window or wall mount A/Cs? I believe they're just stand-alone for small rooms? I've never really looked into them, but I think maybe they're water-evaporation based? You know, just something to switch-on between takes. Would it cause too much humidity in a roo...

Re: looking for mics

I don't know about the DC96 at all, but I've got the VIP-50 and it sure is one of the MOST versatile mics, in my opinion. It's also one of the MOST "non-character" mics too!

Re: to rent out a home studio or not?

That's good to know, about incorporating! I'll be sure to remember that if I get the chance to rent-out a place in a couple years! I've been running a home studio out of my fully-converted 2-car garage for about 6 years. The space gets smaller and smaller each year as the gear list increases. I remo...

Re: Lomo Valve Mic

While I have never used any mics, or heard of any comments on mics, with the Mojave Audio kits, while they're probably a cool thing, comparing them to the U67 or M49 is absurd!
