I've come to appreciate the foundations of engineering, and just kinda went back to learning them. I never really did, I just thought I could record. It didn't work our too well for me. I'm not saying this is the way it goes for everybody, some people can just go to it and do a great job. Creative-w...

Where do you buy your tape from?
Ideally I would like to find a few 1/2" 456 pancackes..but the places that carry them have a minimum order of 10. I only need one reel..usrecording is out of it..just seeing where people on the board buy from. Or if you had a reel to sell.
Thanks,
Brian

WTB-one reel 1/2" 456 + one question.
I just need one reel of Quantegy 1/2" 456 in good shape. I started using my 8 track again and realized that every reel I have is shedding like a collie in the summertime.
Thanks,
Brian
Also does anyone know of a New Chicago based audio company selling high end mics?

TSR8 woes.
Dusted off my tsr8, it had been in storage for about a year. I played some old tapes that had also been stored. I cleaned the heads and the whole machine, it played the recorded tapes back fine, although there seemed to be a wobbly sound. The tape is old and very sticky. When I tried to record on th...

I thought AL was for aluminum/silicon. Could be wrong though.check the NTE cross reference. Just type in 2712 sometime prefixes will throw it off..is it a standard 3pin transistor? look like a tophat? here is nte's link if you haven't tried already? http://nte01.nteinc.com/nte/NTExRefSemiProd.nsf/$$...

DIY effects?
Any one build them? Just curious. If so which ones have you liked.? Just built a Bazz Fuss and it is really simple and sounds really cool. Fuzz's out really well and does a cool synth like trailer if you hold out notes. http://home-wrecker.com/bazz1.png low part count fit it in an altoids container....

I know thanks that place is great for them. I was just hoping to find someone that had some lying around and didn't need them (i.e. "on the cheap) I actually found some in a box that belonged to my wifes Grandfather, he was into radios. I just ordered a tester for the Hfe, but I need to figure out h...

thanks for all the replies!!..I ended up saving the enclosure and sanding it down and just kinda left everything, circiut wise..It was a mess inside lots of wires torn out..so it would have been a lot of work to get it to a point to sell it + missing a knob and various other stuff that would make it...

salvaging old effects pedals for parts.
Is it silly to clip or remove out transistors/op amps from old effects for re-use? I have an old rat pedal that someone left and I wanted to use it for parts etc. I figre I can get out the jacks and knobs etc fairly easy, but the other stuff would be fun to experiment with. Just wondering if there i...
