Re: alternative to a 335

Ever try Epiphone's version? I tried it out when I used to work at a music store many years ago. Not bad at all. Felt real nice. Liked it better than real Les Pauls, though I realize thats the oranges and lemons thing going on sorta. Millions of dollars cheaper. I'm a single coil guy myself.

Re: Cool Music Shops in Boston/Cambridge?

I love "In Your Ear" (record store in Cambridge -- take the T to Harvard Square) Stolling down Newbury Street in the Back Bay (though a litytle touristy byt what itsn't) , you can ...

Re: Website Builder for Mac OSX?

I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to web site building. But in my experience, I've found that Dreamweaver (I have an older version, i think it's 3 because I'm running it on my ancient beige G3) is pretty damn intuitive and generally easy to figure out. I whipped something up using that and Phot...

Re: Pressing 7-inch records.

Hey, Red Rockets, that look like a good deal. Thanks for sharin'.
How's their mastering? Can they simply master WAV or AIFF files from a cd-r?
Excuse my ignorance, I never was the one who delt with the production side of things before.

Re: What is your City/Town like?

It's smack dab in the middle of University of Virginia-land, in a slightly scary part of Richmond, but luckily you can stay on the third floor, and shop across the street, so you never have to leave. You mean Virginia Commonwealth University. UVa is over here in C'ville. Yeah, lots of good m...

Re: What is your City/Town like?

Like Rodgre, I am also in an outskirt limbo town that has its ups and downs. Charlottesville, Virginia is a very perty (mountains and lots o' green) and has quite a lot of culture for a city of only about 45,000. We're 2 hours from DC and 1 hour from Richmond. It's sort of a tiny bastion of openmind...

Re: Indie Promotion/Publicist

No, it's not. It's a stone fucking drag. I think many musicians are not successful because they don't do the promotion, and they don't do it because they don't enjoy it as much as making the music. As we've said before around here, the quality of the music may not be the problem. The problem is oft...

Re: Dave Matthews Band shit-dumping scandal

You know, this is especially poignant because I remember reading about DM's noted obsession with poo poo. I swear i read this in the media somewhere. Maybe it was in my town's local arts weekly (DM is in it everyday because he lives here). There were all these instances where he was mentioning "taki...

That song on the latest Air record with the whistling in the chorus. So chipper.

Re: hooray! hooray! a hurricane!

Yeah, I used to not take Hurricane seriously untill we lost power for 10 days from Hurricane Isobel. We're on an electric well so that means no water as well, well. Well, i ain't looking forward to it.
Yeah, it's time to stow away some water and batteries.

Good luck to all in it's path.

Re: What a bunch of dumbasses

Geez you'd think people in England would know what Ringo looks like. That guy didn't look anything like him! Actually it was people in Florida that were fooled. What gets me riled up are these celebrity-obsessed idiots that modern culture spawns. I like how the woman calls herself a "beatles fan". ...
