I'm going to get a Bellari RP220 and modify with op amps, tubes and input transformers. What would be cheap but better input transformers that could be a 1 to 1 replacement without any other circuit modification? Would old Shure input transformers work OK?

Yes, it surprised me that there was a disc on the back side of the capsule as well.

I got an Oktava MK-319 and removed the resonator disc from the front of the capsule. However, I didn't realize there is also a disc on the rear of the capsule. Thanks everybody but I really need a how to do this for dummys. In other words step by step...first take the mic apart etc. Does the damping material just fill the spaces between the circuit board and the bottom barrel of the mic or what?

Can anybody provide step by step directions for how to do this? I've read about using silicon calking but where does it go?
