What transformers will work in a Bellari RP220

I'm going to get a Bellari RP220 and modify with op amps, tubes and input transformers. What would be cheap but better input transformers that could be a 1 to 1 replacement without any other circuit modification? Would old Shure input transformers work OK?

Those things track the tape really poorly and cross talk is usually massive.

Oktava 319 Resonator Disc Removal

I got an Oktava MK-319 and removed the resonator disc from the front of the capsule. However, I didn't realize there is also a disc on the rear of the capsule. I didn't know if removing the rear one was part of the typical modification people do so I left it on. The mic does sound smoother now. Woul...

Thanks everybody but I really need a how to do this for dummys. In other words step by step...first take the mic apart etc. Does the damping material just fill the spaces between the circuit board and the bottom barrel of the mic or what?

Can anybody provide step by step directions for how to do this? I've read about using silicon calking but where does it go?

Any Way to Mod a Rat Shack PZM to make it Balanced?

I've got a couple of old Rat Shack PZM mics that run on batteries and terminate with a 1/4 inch T/S plug. Anyway to make these balanced and phantom powered?

A lot of us (including me) went like lemmings over the digital cliff and then later realized something was wrong. Myself, I stubbornly refused to admit that maybe it was the nature of digital to produce a flat 2-D harsh sound. Then I decided to try tape again. There it was: everything I missed. I'm ...

Joe Walsh's Analog Man Done on Pro Tools?

Anybody listened to Analog Man from Joe Walsh's new album? Is it just me or does it sound flat, cold, 2 dimensional, and digital? I found a Mix interview in which he said it was done with Pro Tools which he just learned to use for this album. IMHO, that was a huge mistake. Compared to earlier albums...
