i'm using a tascam msr-16 1/2" 16 track deck (usually with 456) and i can't seem to get tape saturation. you'd think that with such narrow track width it would be easy but it seems that the input electronics overload before the tape does. have i missed something or is this just one of the limitation...

i'm wondering about the pros and cons of using a foh console for recording. in the price range i will be looking ($1000-$2500) i figure i could get a second hand yamaha and run it as a split console but how many studio type features will i be missing?
