The Gervais book shows a design for doing both of those things together. I guess the ultimate question is: how far does your ceiling drop using a resilient channel- RC2 clips + drywall. If it is less than 2 inches I could imagine not caring. Beyond that, if you have a smaller space that is just too ...

Thanks all. There is almost too much information about monitors on the internet, and of course a lot of it is not reliable. Matt, your story fits another I read and helps me make up my mind. Obviously KRK V8's are nicer than the Rokits, so if you (and others) find the Events better, than I can just ...

Is an 8" monitor too bass for a smallish room?
I am continuing to comb through the maze of contradictory information on monitors. I've read some opinions that would lead me to believe all of the 8" monitors I've been comparing might be too bassy for my control room (180 square feet). Meanwhile I have shuffled back and forth between KRK RP8 KRK V...

What I'm thinking is that if I screw the drywall up into the floorboard it will be a lot more coupled than if it is just resting against the cleat. I would imagine it could transmit a lot less energy through the floor that way. This wouldn't prevent me from screwing it in with a couple screws, and t...

Well, I can excuse myself from some responsibility. The snare drum didn't sound that good in the room (this is why I recently bought a nice snare) and his attack on it was not too even (this is why I recently bought a robot). The mexican strat with mini-humbuckers maybe isn't quite as choice as some...

I?ve used the standard d112, b52, 57 on inside kick quite a lot, all acceptable, but when I want to open up the kick and add deep lows I have turned to the aforementioned mics. I am pretty sure it's a combination of my inexperience, and at times poor placement. However my least expensive mic on tha...

Not your best work (words of doom and depression)
I don't know if this ever happens to you guys, but you burn a rough mix from a project and then pop it in the stereo, and it's a disaster. I mean, a rough mix is a rough mix, but you know about the quality level you can expect. Lately I've had this exciting thing happen where I get a rough mix on cd...

Cool. I learned something new. I get the feeling you could leave these in permanently if the only other thing that's holding the drywall up is the pressure from compressing the backing rod and some caulk (try to say it out loud without giggling). My question to you, since you seem to know this stuff...

Re: Hanging drywall from ceiling!
I am about to hang some drywall from ceiling. I have some RSCI-1 clips, resiliant channels, and and a bunch of drywall that is two pieces green glued together. ... Hey, when you green glued the drywall together did you just apply the stuff and then stack the pieces of dw together and let gravity do...
