Well, the board has eleven categories already. If we want to add categories for mixing, or miking, or effects, or compression, or tracking vs. overdubbing...you could subdivide this into infinity. But there is, quite simply, no point to doing that. I think you're being unfair. I would like to see m...

Maybe we can change this to "studio techniques" or even just "techniques." OR ya'll can start mixing related topics and put them here and we can all realize that a mix does, in fact, get recorded and thus fits in just fine on this board. Uh yeah, but... Some good info on setting up your room

I'm not aware of Mr. Vestman reading this board- or posting here, but he's got a great set of tips for people to consider when setting up a room:

Where's the category of 'Mixing techniques'?

Just occurred to me- all these years in, this category is lacking on this messageboard. It appears 'Recording Techniques' gets lumped together with mixing, which are two completely different things.

You're the one with all of these ridiculous qualifiers for what counts as legitimate or not. In the last 5 years, how many of the records that you've worked on have ACTUALLY had a budget over $10,000?
All of them. What do you think I do for a living?

All the social networking stuff moved to facebook, but facebook's band page capability is complete poo. What I've found to be a really good (completely free) alternative is to use Blogger to host my page, use dropbox to host my audio files & images, and the facebook plugin to handle comments, likes...

Re: Why would an artist have a myspace page today...

...When they can have a bandcamp, soundcloud, or even wordpress page instead? Here's a link a friend who knows how I feel about this sent to me recently. I think it states the case pretty well. http://bit.ly/lGzQFw I'll read his bit in a minute, but I would like to state that there was an immediate...

$179 divided by $35 = several shots at success.
And Derek Sivers has been offering that for years, right?

Array of 500 modules/pres/eqs or a 1608

If you guys had a choice of two racks of twenty 500 series modules- think pairs of brands- would you rather have that or a simple 1608 API sidecar?

My last 2 releases were digital only but had UPC codes and ISRCs... * tags up * Not the point at all- the point is- and I have to ask- are you in the percentage of folks earning more than $179 with your disc in a single year from online sales? You may have to ask, but I'm not at all obligated to re...

Hey man, I don't wanna hear it. You're the one who did a session with David Coverdale.

Is it just that the DVD format sucks so hard for high-resolution files? Do you think that's why the high-res stuff hasn't taken off?

What's the issue you're having? Are you trying to connect them with an old printer cable? No issue. I'm configuring a set-up for a new studio and budgeting accordingly.
