Re: USB 1X1 MIDI interfaces

I posted something of a review here:
http://messageboard.tapeop.com/viewtopic.php?t=521

I didn't mention the knobless interface. That is one aspect I'm really happy with.

Take it easy

Re: Multi-sound card syncing issues

Glad to hear everything's working.

Glad also to hear that you dug on the mp3. ETS is actually a four-piece -- two keyboardists (doubling on trumpet, accordion, bass and misc perc.), a guitarist and a drummer, all of whom sing.

Cheers.

Re: Multi-sound card syncing issues

I think I would have the Lexicon be the master clock in the set-up, just based on the relative purported qualities as manufacturers. The ST audio stuf while not bad doesn't have quite the rep that lex does. Another dumb question: A thread at the CPort beulletin board said that *the CPort is likely t...

Re: USB 1X1 MIDI interfaces

I've got that Edirol port and have been very happy with it. Seems to be as happily in sync as MIDI ever gets. (remember 31kbps.) I have it going as a secondary MIDI interface to my Aardvark DP2496, and they seem to get along happily, which suggests to me that it'll pr'y get along with just about any...

Re: Multi-sound card syncing issues

This is kind of a dumb question, but have you got y'r system sounds turned off? If windows is trying to play system sounds it switches the sample rate of the playback device to 22khz. Aside from that, I presume you've tried each of them as the master clock source and slaving the other to the SPDIF i...

Re: Domain Registration

I have been with register.com which is like $35 a year, or cheaper for multiple years. I'm about to renew. I'd like to switch to one of the cheaper providers, but I'm wondering: I like register.com's automated account page (set your ip addresses, etc). Do the cheaper providers also have automated ac...

My guess

Redbook also says that there shall be a lead-in of two or three (forget) seconds of silence before the first track.

I suspect that the first program didn't put this lead-in on, and then the disc-at-once "exact copy" inserted it,

Re: Best Jazz Album Recorded?

I'm glad Bitches Brew finally got mentioned. Oh my god what a great album. It was my introduction to jazz, and crossed me over from being a straight electronic and rock person. Check also "Live Evil" by him from that same period. Similar vibe to the Bitches Brew sessions, but without editing. Grante...

Re: Moving from Roland VS to DAW

Oh, re: the Aardvark's hardware DSP: Better to do it in software. The only one of the EQ/Comp/Verb combo I use is the reverb, and then I don't record it -- just keep it on the monitor chain to make the vocalist feel more comfy. The EQ is okay for minor tweaks on input (say the bottom end of the sign...

Re: Moving from Roland VS to DAW

I've got an Aardvark DP2496. I like it. But I have to say that it hasn't been without its foibles. From what I've read, no sound card is. the discussion forums at http://www.audioforums.com the Usenet archive on Google, and http://www.cubase.net have been invaluable resources in troubleshooting. I w...

Re: EMU VINTAGE KEYS MODULE
so you would choose the e-magic plug-in over Emu? I've heard lots of good things about the EVP73...does anyone know where I can find one that will work with PC?
EVP just does Rhodes. One-trick pony. Re: IDM, Laptop Artists - The new folk?

Err, herm. I've seen some really interesting laptop shows and some really piss-poor ones. The exciting ones are usually ones where the artist/s have more going on than just mousing on a screen. I can't remember names for any of these people, but the best was a show from a guy in DC who did Drum and ...

...If you have a mixer that has SPDIF out.

I use it for recording tracks out of my sampler (venerable Kurzweil K2000), and for grabbing stuff off of DAT.

Re: EMU VINTAGE KEYS MODULE

Can't speak to the Vintage Keys in particular, but Emu has put out about six keyboards with all the same hardware, but different ROM sounds. I have the Ensoniq Halo model, and I have to say that I've been very happy with it. The Emu architecture took a little head-wrap-around-ey for me, but its pret...
