Pilot lamp's and pot's

im finishing up a project of racking some RCA mic pre's (this has taken far too long) and im looking for two bits of info. 1. Is a 10K audio taper pot sufficient as the input control? i don't want to build a stepped attenuator. 2. What do i need to know to wire in a pilot lamp? the PSU is an Accopia...

just a few inches maybe 3 or 4. experiment and see what you like. i would go as close as i could without the head hitting the mic. there is a surprising amount of excursion on a kick head.

yes you can use it. put it half way between the center of the head and the rim. not in front of the port hole. you will probably need another mic inside for some beater attack as well. the outer mic will mostly pick up low end. or try a minimal set up thing and look up the glyn johns technique.

as i understand it, it's an online business. i don't think there is any physical store to speak of, but i haven't been there yet. i'll let you know for sure when i pick them up (hopefully this week). i put a call in to them and Geroge (the owner) picked up and was great to talk to. he really knew hi...

just ordered a pair of Quested S7R's... so excited! these are replacing my Samson Resolv 50a's which i found entirely useless. it would have been just as useful to mix on regular stereo speakers with the amount of guess work that had to be done with them. I've also been using a pair of Alessandro ms...

yeah it was just for tracking. it was ITB strictly for ease of recalls. we didn't (and still dont) have lots of cash so it was the most cost effective way of being able to do recalls.

unfortunately no tape for this project. just right into the cpu. i dont believe that the Toft was used after tracking but i could be wrong about that. im pretty sure it was all in the box after tracking.

thanks but i was just the drummer on the project. it was recorded and mixed by Bill Moriarty. There was an echoplex running most of the time that was getting printed, and lots of EQing too. no compression on the way in though. although he didn't do much compression at all actually. (what you hear as...

all of these songs were recorded on a Toft 32ch. board and liberally eq'd as well. the mix was in the box with some additional processing im sure.

i just skimmed the other posts... im sure the value of your pot is just fine but the quality is the issue. I find a lot of the popular companies offerings just aren't that great. check these out... http://www.alessandro-products.com/main.php?p=parts scroll down to guitar pots. they are expensive but...

oddly enough, paiste 2002's use the same B8 alloy as sabian B8's. they just hammer and lathe them until it's legit.

also, i thought you should check out www.cymbalsonly.com and www.mycymbal.com unfortunately, you can't play everything with your own gear but this is the next best thing.
