I picked one of these up for 50 and I have to say that it sounds pretty good on kick. Although like some have said its much better on guitar (actually bass guitar). I'm amazed at how natural it sounds considering the absolutely ridiculous boost the chart says it has. I don't know if I would ever use...

Its not that they sound bad, but I can see where someone could get that idea. If you look at the frequency charts (not that thats all a mic is about) its got some pretty wicked hype in the high end and to me that makes them sound great at first, but then it starts to fatigue my ears and drives me nu...

I did a recording of a friend of mine and we went to his grandparants farm when they were away and recorded with a revox reel to reel. All I used was a sm58 on his voice, and the a LDC on his guitar. I just moved it around till I found something I liked and we recorded 4 songs like that. It turn out...

I've got a shure sm53 thats pretty sweet. It sounds really good on guitar amps. I also like it on snare, it gets a little more bit in the low mids. I also heard that the white stripes used it on thier kick once.

if you have a mixing board or if your recorder has some juice in the amp you could use an effects send to a spring reverb unit. I have one out of a busted mixer but they are cheap to buy. I run the single out of a aux send then bring it back into a channel. Its a little noisey but it works.

Its really strange that it still works but limited volume, if the +20 gain isnt on, you dont hear anything at all and with it its not very lo...

Broken ART MP

So I have one of the original Art Tube Mp's and one day I went and fired it up to use it, and the volume was like half of what it should be. So I took the top off (or bottom really) peaked around, no wires seemed to be off so I put it back together. Today on a hunch I decided to try putting a new tu...

i tried that but since it wasnt very comfortable, i just took the speakers out of a broken pair of headphones and put them inside the hunters head phones. It works really great.

Breaking in... (sorry kind of long)

So, for a couple years now I have decided I want to record music for a living. Im 21, going to college for communications, but all I really want to do is record music. I have been looking at different audio schools, chilicothies Recording Workshop (since I live in Ohio), and also La recording school...

New capsules

So I bought some Behringer Match pair SDC and once I got it I realized that the top capsules screw off. I was wondering if anyone new if it was possible to get different capsules like omni capsules for it. Im happy with the stock ones but It would seem that if it was removable this would be the reas...
