Great looking studio, and great ideas.
Life goal: get enough D'Addario points to get that stool.

Pawnshop score: mini USB keyboard - Akai LPK25. Mini sized keys with springy action. Suitable for couch noodling (sits over MBP keyboard without touching its QWERTY keys). Re: Actually useful Amazon junk?
I recently got a "Slipdrive" adhesive/elastic pocket to hold an SSD drive (Crucial X10 4TB), since it's a little cheaper than buying a Macbook with a big SSD drive. It keeps the external drive handy (the pocket glues to the laptop lid), and the cable fits in it, if I want to disconnect. Now I can do...

Not sure it counts as gear if it's software, a synth plugin called "Polymode" (a Moog Polymoog simulator). So I can play along to Gary Numan's "Pleasure Principle" album using the "Vox Humana" preset he used all over the place on that one. I've spent $29 on stupider things. https://cherryaudio.com/p...

Nice article on "Dream Weaver" - I wonder what that opening chord is. Probably every note on the scale.

I love the drawing on the page where the interview starts - little diagrams of his gear (Tunde Adebimpe drew it, I assume)?

An iPad 2 - my Dad is finally cleaning out his office. Anybody got a line on a good 30-pin to MIDI interface? I have that model, and a newer one. I wonder if one of these will suit your needs? https://www.alesis.com/products/legacy/io-dock-ii My older one has iStrobosoft installed, it makes a nice ...

Book: "The Birth Of Loud"
Just finished this book (a friend borrowed from the library - I need to do that more). Featuring a few well known characters - Leo Fender, Les Paul, Paul Bigsby, etc. My take is that Les Paul was not the ideal husband, and Leo was somewhere on the spectrum (I also didn't know about his eye and ear i...

Re: Embedding RIFF tag info in wav files / Sirius XM upload guidelines?
My experience with XM has been weird. I have been engineering a client's XM show for over 12 years now. It used to be fun, lighthearted etc. Then the suits came in with : 1. You cannot EVER speak over music, not even a bed. 2. The music HAS TO BE FULLY CLEAR OF ANY VOICEOVER. I've heard a lot of su...

I guess this still beats a ~ 35 year period where they weren't doing anything with the brand.

Spark "Go" 5w amp. Not that I needed another battery powered amp, but maybe it does something my Roland MicroCube, Vox DA-5, other mini Vox, mini Marshall, Danelectro Honeytone, Danelectro amp-in-a-bag, and Smokey don't. Maybe I'll run its line out/headphone into a big amp, and see what's what. IMG_...

Have you tried the trick of holding the phone speaker against the pickup of your bass or guitar?
