Drum "Heart" mics, pres and techniques

I've been using drum heart mics lately in my sessions for some added character. I like a good picture of the kit (OH, FOK etc) and bolster with close mics and then add some character with other mics....a heart mic is cool. song / application dependent of course... I've used a telephone mic, which is...

I have a feeling the snare you're talking about is going to be too small to fill my needs.

I need a BIG snare, with a firm MEATY sound.

what size you talking anyway.... 1 x 3?

Guys,
Thanks for the replies.

I've been focused more on the 14" ers because I have a ton of 14" heads, and a very special kevlar one. But would like to check the 15" out.

Can you both email me pictures?

banks brad at hot mail

thanks!

WTB: Deep wood snare, marching snare

been thinking about adding a deep, wood (I can rip off a shell off a wood drum) DEEP marching type snare to my arsenal.

14 x 10 or 12 or around there.

doesn't have to be pretty, can be incomplete, would prefer local.. NYC.

thanks

Find the jensen circuit.

get an edcor transformer. much cheaper than the jensen tranny... who cares about the difference.

worked for me.

Radial JDX

After reading this, days later it popped into my mind. Never liking DI bass much, the convenience of doing DI bass AND even guitar is really exciting. as laziness tightens it grip on my life.

but, what kind of load boxes would one use?

you don't need the bias card, but removing it would reduce your current draw, by how much???? maybe a negligible amount... A power conditioner (120VAC filter of some sort) wouldn't help. the noise can be generated by the switching supply. there should be some better discussion here or maybe prodigy-...

You don't need the bias card for just mic pre operation. I think the bias card is what transmits the face panel controls to the tape electronics. Your power supply should work... but it looks like a switching power supply. I think with all supplies the electrical noise generated by them is an unknow...

Yup! I've just been so busy with these wedding plans, work lately and also I haven't had the patience for much DIY. the individual pads option seems really sturdy, pro and modular to fight breakage and obsolescence. also having a wild drummer hit the exact pad on one of those 8 pad things could be t...
