The engineer on those albums (I forget his name and don't have my cd's around) did some crazy stuff, including building some of hi...

Re: So I just saw the Moog documentary..
is it a good film for learning about the Moog? this film has piqued my interest in learning more about Moogs... The best way to learn about Moog and Moogs is to check out the book "Vintage Synthesizers" by Mark Vail. It not only has the story and history behind Moog but Buchla, Arp, Emu, Sequential...

Re: So I just saw the Moog documentary..
Nope, no Larry Fast
No Ivor Darreg
No Don Bucula
No Dick Hyman
It does have an appearance by Walter Sear though.
These are just me being knit picky, I really did enjoy the film but I felt they could have done a much more comprehensive job.

Re: So I just saw the Moog documentary..
And what the hell does he know about Moog? From what I saw very, very little. He was trying to "relate" his shit with the computer age with Moog and the early synths. Jean Jaques Perry (among others) gets a soundbyte but Spooky gets to ramble and make no sense to the topic at hand. Retarded to say ...

And there was not one apearence of Walter/Wendy Carlos! She gets a cursory mention at the beginning in regards to how after Switched On came out people started taking the synth seriously; but that's it! Why did they give DJ Spooky 5 minutes to ramble on about sampling and other stupid shit but nothi...

Re: My library rules.
I totally agree!! In the past week I have enjoyed almost all of John Zorn's Masada studio discs. Those are like 25 dollars each as imports from Japan and they were free! I think my friend said it best "Libraries hold system is like impulse buying without the monetary regret". Hear of a band/dvd/book...
