Re: So, the $1000 question....
props to syrupcore for the comment! I wouldve said the same if you hadnt seen the post first! If you have weekly clients then I guess go for the gear, but do you really need it? An album under your belt would impress others and maybe yourself way more than a new pre, so do that or maybe save it unti...

Re: Experience w/ Pitch Correction?
Hi all, I think that the software shifters kick way more ass!! (antares for AU is commin out!!) This is because the hardware units are really only good for changing the entire track a given amount (not too useful if your singer moves between sharp and flat), using "auto-correct" functions which are ...

Re: newbee at recording, question with how to hook mixer to
hey sam, Really want a bus (subgroup) for each track to have total flexibility, so your mixer is a little small for an 8 channel motu. Anyway, use the subgroup (1-4) outs for your most important signals, followed by the aux sends, and then the inserts. The problem with using the inserts is that you ...

Re: AHHH!
Well first it was a bad idea (sorry) to try and open a session created in PT6 with PT5. I know it sounds like it might/should work but in my experience it rareley does as the achitecture is different and PT5 sessions work with PT6 but not vice-versa. Im sure you didn't save on the new machine, but s...

Re: Pork Pie Percussion all maple snare on sale at GC, worth
Its not a bad snare, and I agree with the comments above but GC's sales are usually kind of bogus and offer little true discount. Its possible that this particular drum has a surplus comming from the factory; either way it sounds like a good deal but if GC is selling it for a given price, you can al...

Re: I found a drum room.....advice needed.
I agree with signorMars completeley as far as STARTING recording drums goes. Also, 25 mics and 49.7 channels is nice sure, but I think that it can quickly get to overkill and you can get a great sound with just a few if you have a good room and a good drummer. Besides, a mic for each tom, 2 for snar...

Re: I found a drum room.....advice needed.
Hi Theron, Reguarding your questions, As far as 'getting started' goes I would check out recording books such as 'Home Recording for Dummies', as it and others have great advice for beginning drum recording. Reguarding you gear question about 4 Yamaha, 8 DAW, or 8 tape tracks; you could really use a...

Re: Labeling cables, I need a good idea.
Hi All, The previous ideas of heatshrink and such are quality but are somewhat permenant and a hassle to do. The best thing to use is 'marking tags'. They have them at Longs Drugs in the stationery section. You can rewrite on them, theres no goo, and theyre easy to put on and cut off. If they are of...
