Re: Electronics
i use www.mouser.com, www.digikey.com, www.newark.com i've started to prefer digikey to mouser, but i like mousers site better. newark also works well. it seems for almost every project i've needed parts for i've had to get some from one place and others at another, noone ever seems to have everythi...

Re: you know who we're all missing these days?
my head hurts from all this house stuff. i had the inspection yesterday to mixed review. we gotta get a structural engineer to take a look at the roof, as it relates to the attic. BLAH. i get insomnia at night obsessing over floor plan layouts and scenarios for floor covering. ack. i need to go get ...

Re: The only problem with that
Is you won't hear what your compressor is doing until you play back what you have recorded, right? I think that's right... one thing i used to do all the time that was a big source of confusion for me, was monitor directly off the mics BEFORE tape, then was always confused when playback sounded dif...

Re: Using Dynamic Processors without Inserts
yes. a lot of times in fancier places, they'll bypass the electronics of thier console to make a shorter, cleaner signal path - which is almost always the goal. the more twists and turns your audio has to go from microphone to tape - the more convoluted things get. (or, that is one school of thought...

Re: you know who we're all missing these days?
funny- i was just having a big debate with coworkers about that. there were mixed opinions, though the majority said - do it on the downlow and don't get caught. for references sake - what exactly do you need to do to get a permit? i tried poking around the city's site, and got nowhere. then again, ...

Re: Phase question
matt- here's a link that should help: http://www.physics.umd.edu/courses/Phys122/Redish/ch17ab.pdf read through it all to get a good understanding of the physics of sound waves, but once you understand the basics of a simple sine wave, the phase stuff we're talking about here comes into play in sect...

Re: Phase question
helstab- i think djembe did a pretty good job of explaining the actual construction of the cable you need to build (if not - post to clarify what you didnt get). one thing that helped greatly in understanding phase issues for me is learning to hear what's out of phase vs in. soundguy dave posted som...

prince- yeah - i've got the VSS stuff, but never could track down angel hair. that's a great testament to andy's talent then! but i guess you can see that since his stuff now is much more technical than the VSS days. larry/jchris- i was just listening again this morning, even though the setup change...
