they've been out for a year or something, right? I'm sure they're shipping... I would think someone would have gotten one by now... maybe they are so good that when you use it the first time you die of orgasm on playback. Have you seen one in a store? If not you can't be sure they are shipping.

This particular set-up was a U87 in figure-8 for the OH. The mono room, at snare height, about 4 feet away and pointing at the SD was a TOMB ribbon with a decent amount of EQ. The stereo room was a pair of Pro37R x/y about drummers chest height and6-7 feet from him. All went through my Neotek Elan's...

I'm talking about how quickly the disbursed air can escape a drum through a small vent hole or two. What happens is that the head won't vibrate smoothly is the air can't get out and the actually vibrate less as the amount of air dispersion to escape ratio is not working in the drummer's (or enginee...

are you talking about a shockwave? I think the speed of propagation of a zero order wave in a typical drumhead is on the order of 1500 m/s. I'm not sure a person can exceed that... but maybe? He's choking the drum. After a cretin velocity the drum just can produce any more sound. And, the air can m...

A short balanced cable won't be a problem. Snakes are often 100 feet.

Slight disagreement with the general course of this thread. It's not a matter of hitting too hard, so much as it is a matter of not allowing the stick to rebound freely. To put it another way, burying the stick in the head, which kills the sound and the head. It's a technique failure not a force is...

He's choking the drum. After a cretin velocity the drum just can produce any more sound. And, the air can move out of the vent hole fast enough so the heads aren't vibrating they way they should. Its like phase cancellation.

Sorry I was not clearer. I had a Mono OH, a mono Room, and a stereo Room set up. So four mics, two mono and one stereo pair.

It made sense when I typed it I swear it did...
