Re: amp load mismatching correction
Hi, Just a quick one - if you're mismatching the impedance, you want the speaker impedance to be higher than normal, NOT lower. That is, an amp expecting a 4 ohm load should be fine with an 8 ohm load (it'll run a bit hotter, you'll lose a bit of efficiency as heat - which might be desirable with a...

Congrats on the kids, you all! My wife and I are going to be adopting, and we go into the available parent pool this summer. Today I: put on regular clothes for the second time in a week went to the surgeon's office and got 35 staples taken out of my back from my 3-level lumbar fusion I had a week a...

Does anyone know waves policy on old "outdated" plugins. I have a disk with a waves bundle on it from around 2001. Other than that I haven't ever been blown away by the sound of Waves plugs and would rather use something else anyway. Some are even free. My guess is that if you have a 7-year old bun...

when I heard the rumor that Apple was developing an iTouch-like laptop, I thought it was going to be the laptop version of the Mac Mini- a $500 version that is small, wireless and extremely portable. I even thought that maybe it was going to be a touchscreen-only 13 in. wide iTouch with a keyboard a...

I bought my '68 Bassman and it came with RCA 6L6's that look older than the amp itself and they show no sign of dying. I put them aside for a couple of years when the amp was acting up and now that it's in tip top shape I put them back in and wouldn't be surprised if they are still working 20 years ...

I got a Fender Jaguar Special HH last summer and since then, I found that I don't play my Telecaster or my Epiphone G400 since I can get similar sounds from it and not have to adjust to the feel of different guitars. This Jaguar has humbuckers, but not the high-output kind. Coupled with the bass rol...

Since the SC preamp is a common factor in the blown mics, I'd start my troubleshooting there. If you have a multimeter, you could turn the unit on (no mic attached) and check for DC current with the phantom power off, then on. You might also want to check to see if there is any AC coming through. I'...

If that black stuff is carbon, it sure looks like it was fried somehow. I have seen ribbons that got stretched and ones that were just broken from a blow, none of them were damaged like that. They just were less corrugated or simply bent and up against one of the magnets. Depending on the transforme...
