kick drum flutter
I'm trying to get a nice clean attack on my kick drum and it's sounding more like a flam. I've double checked and it's not a technique issue. The pedal in not bouncing on the head. Here's a clip to demonstrate: https://www.dropbox.com/s/1ww3u9jn6xac56y/kick%20sample.mp3?dl=0 it's a nice George Way 2...

Re: Low passing drum overheads
I don't LP the overheads exactly but I have the waves KRAMER TAPE on my drum buss template and will turn it on a 7.5 IPS (which rolls off a fair bit of top end crispiness) when I have tracks that feel a bit too shrill/bright.

"writing sessions" aka pre pro
Just curious if any of you charge different rates for album prep work. It seems around here that it's somewhat of a practice to do cheaper rate for this time as you're not really recording yet. And if much writing happens on those days then there would be some consideration of a percentage of the so...

Re: Being an audio engineer and raising a family... how do you do it?
it's an interesting thread to think about. It sounds like the poster had a very different experience than me and possibly lots of other folks on this board who do audio production for a living. It sounds like he went the OG route of working his way up through the ranks of a bigger studio in a big ci...

been enjoying this and finding a lot of it super boring as well - they are just a bunch of goof balls most of the time... but it is cool to see how the songs evolve through the rehearsals...

Re: Is this a triggered snare sound?
I really like the band but would have considered sampled drums kinda against their hippie/jammy aesthetic, and including in context of the "at home" video. The drums on their last albums are either insanely processed, edited and / or sample enhanced - they are tight and consistent to a crazy level....

Re: McCartney 3,2,1
i completely get what you guys are saying about track counts and arrangements - but i am actually addressing something different. It's about how I can record a single guitar or voice with a high end tube mic and chander tg2 preamp through a fancy tube compressor and it will sound good - but against ...

Re: McCartney 3,2,1
lots of good thoughts and glad others are finding the series entertaining. It is really cool to hear tracks isolated and to deconstruct such well known songs a bit. The thing I was trying to articulate in my initial post though, is even more about the sonic texture/tonality of the isolated tracks as...

Re: McCartney 3,2,1
annd WHAT ABOUT THOSE BASSLINES! (it's total love fest for Paul) but i forgot how amazing so many of those lines are. Just full of great movement and energy - aside from the great sort of melodic leads he plays as well. Super non-typical choices and really memorable.
