Considering the fidelity and longevity of flexis, I'd love to see the cost for them come way down. At that price, you're in the same neighborhood as 7" in paper sleeves.

If it was cheaper, I'd probably do a few runs of flexi discs as promo...

You can't get keeper takes in a room of less than 1500 cubic feet. These kind of statements get my back up. I know what you're talking about but disagree. You can get keeper takes in almost any situation and set-up. Rules are lame. Keep 'em coming though... I love trying new ideas that some people ...

Haha! Cassette is for real music fans who love analog tape!! Cassettes have made a comeback here, too. Same as vinyl, most who purchase tapes never listen to them. It's a kitschy item that's fun to collect. They then just listen to the tunes on Spotify, or, if they're really young, they listen to mo...

If this thread had started out about "who loves music more?", I would have never clicked on it. The original topic was asked and answered in the first few posts.

Sincere thanks to everyone who posted links. They were all quite useful.

I absolutely know people who buy vinyl and never, ever listen to it. They just buy it because it has collectible value. I think it's about time everyone got off their high horse and stopped judging people for HOW they consume music and just be thankful that some people still do. This notion that you...

This "5 minutes" thing is also bullshit. Since it's been mentioned twice now, I thought it was worth pointing out how ridiculous that is. I'm uploading a consolidated session tonight. It's a pretty simple song. But, the consolidated session is just under 2 gigs. I don't have any garbage like Drop Bo...

Who's complaining about it? I think that for the most part, consensus here is just that it's part of what you're hired to do as an engineer and that it's billable work.

I kind of agree, though... Pressing vinyl just to "share" it with "people who are crazy about music" is all fine and good if you're an accountant or attorney and music is just your weekend warrior hobby. But, if you're a working band, trying to book tours and build a career, you're not in a position...

Depends on the situation... I've never known anyone to want edits intact for a remix. True that most songs don't end up getting remixed, and the artist also usually has in mind those they'll want separate files for. It's best just to ask specifically what the artist wants as the situation can take ...

Paypal is all about convenience and peace-of-mind.

I prefer using PayPal on most remote transactions. Even if I know the person and peace-of-mind isn't an issue, the convenience is still important.

The OP was asked to do this after the fact, which is not unusual, and is certainly billable. I don't consolidate as standard procedure on every project I do, for several reasons: 1. Most projects just don't get remixed. It's an extra step in the process that can eat up an hour or more at the end of ...

Right they want individual audio files and not stereo stems of drums/vocs/etc... So can't you just highlight all of the tracks within the project, from start of track to end of track, and hit Shift-alt-3 to consolidate tracks? Then if the client searches the audio files folder you've given them, an...

That's how I've been doing it. I've pressed a lot of vinyl. I'm doing some cassette releases now and people seem to be interested in them. We'll see! But, yeah, my band and the bands on my label are all doing this for audiences that aren't interested in CDs anymore.

I assumed to OP to mean "affordable" in relation to ROI.
