The first thing I do when someone wants a per project quote is estimate how much time it will take. I'm just saying. On to the census data: 1) 1 Day or less per mix unless there is editing and cleanup to be done. When I can I like to leave the mix up and do tweaks the next day. 2) Hour or day rate. ...

I'd be curious to hear how this turns out. I was thinking of doing some workshops in NYC at our newly available studio (see this thread for details: http://messageboard.tapeop.com/viewtopic.php?t=64454) Have you considered doing workshops on other topics? It seems like people are relatively interest...

Hi Scott. I'll try to keep you in mind, but I already have some very capable people available. Check in with me from time to time, hopefully we can get the room booked and there will be some opportunities.

The Blue Men don't wear paint, they're just naturally blue. The PVC pipes are held in an undisclosed, underground bunker, hence they are not on the gear list. Seriously though, the gig has been pretty good to me. I've learned quite a bit over the last few years and I've gotten to do some great work ...

LoHo is open for business - NYC

Hi everyone, my name is Matt and I've been mostly lurking here for a few years. I've been working as the staff engineer at Blue Man Group's production studio during that time. I haven't really been involved much with the outside recording community, but hopefully that is about to change. Some of you...

I probably sent out nearly 100 resumes, getting about 32% "Um... do you want to intern instead?" 32% "Great resume, sorry, we don't have any additional paying positions right now. Please try again later" and 32% Non-repliers. What about the other 4%? Anyhow, I agree that the most realistic thing to...

Hey Ottobot, we're not going to make it out to AZ this time since we're on the self funded plan. I'll let you know if we're ever out there, maybe next summer we can get out west a bit. Ian - I could put you in touch with the volunteers (http://www.myspace.com/thevolunteers). I know a few places you ...

I just started a very similar thread and then I saw this. Thanks for indieonthemove, it seems like a great idea and I'll definitely be spending some time on that site. Unfortunately I can't really offer any help, but good luck out there.

Slow Death Tour - NYC, Chicago, Nashville

Hi folks. My band A Slow Death and Loneliness (myspace.com/slowdeathandloneliness) is in the process of booking a short tour for sometime in August. We are looking for places to play, people to play with, pretty much anything and everything. We need the most help finding other bands who would be int...

I hear what y'all are saying, and I appreciate the feedback. It definitely helps me to hear from people who haven't heard the song a million times at different stages of completion. As far as touring goes we'll probably try to tour nearby on the cheap and hopefully build up to something bigger by th...

Thanks Ottobot, we're just starting to get out a bit in NYC and I want to get on tour as soon as it is feasible. Unfortunately I don't really have many skills that apply once the record is done. Where the hell do bands get the money to tour anyway? It's interesting to me that everyone is saying ther...

Thanks Corey, what signal chains were you curious about? We kind of saved the bigness for the ending of this tune, in the mix I was riding FX coming out of the bridge so everything kind of snaps forward for the following verse. As far as process goes, we ended up redoing an earlier take to try and g...

Part of our debut record is on myspace:

I'm always curious to hear feedback, I can get higher res files (and the rest of the 9 songs) to anyone who is interested.

Thanks,
